Money Island Marina

That is the marina in the photo going around this week, with the Flock camera on it. The response has been harsh and I understand it. Here is the short version.
Money Island has six residents and a marina at the end of a long dead-end road. Crime spiked here during COVID. I lost most of my business equipment. Windows and locks were broken. Metal was stolen from under my home. One night I walked into a break-in at a neighbor's house and was attacked. A neighbor told me to get a gun. For personal reasons I did not. I bought cameras instead, and later a Flock plate reader went up at the marina.
It worked. Crimes were solved. I bragged about it publicly, because at the time I believed the more people who knew, the safer we would be. The restoration of this place would have started later without it.
What I did not understand then is where that data goes.
I stopped paying toward it over a year ago and put in a private system of my own. I never signed the Flock contract and I will not discuss whose name is on it. What I will say is that the camera is on marina property, and that makes the decision mine.
I am finding out what the contract actually says and I will give this community an answer within one week.

Crabbing at Money Island
We've had a bunch of calls and texts lately, so here's what works:
First, the non-negotiables: respect private property, don't touch commercial equipment, and follow the regs. DFW confiscates pots that aren't tended or labeled properly. Commercial traps that drift do get picked up. These aren't suggestions.
Now, the good news: if you do it right, crabbing here is genuinely rewarding. A boat is ideal, but dip netting from the public beach areas works too (not the bridge - there's a dedicated dip-net spot on the road in). It takes patience, but people catch them.
Bait, ice and baskets are available from the self-serve bait shop.
The current here is strong and the regulations matter, so do your homework. But if you're serious and respectful, this is a beautiful place to spend time.
And timing-wise, if you swing by and I've got crabs to spare (which happens), I'm happy to share.
