Everyone on this page building an engine don't go flat tappet unless you have new old stock parts it's not worth the risk. If you can't afford to go roller now odds are you can't afford to build your engine twice.

CRAZY HOW MANY PEOPLE ASSUME IT'S AN ERROR ON THE BUILDING AND BREAK IN END. WE'VE GOT ABOUT 200 YEARS OF ENGINE BUILDING EXPIRENCE IN THIS GROUP WERE DEFINETLY FAMILIAR WITH THE BREAK IN PROCESS. ANYONE USING CHEAP PRODUCTION PARTS YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING AND EVENTUALLY YOU'LL GET BIT ..

May not be a muscle car to most, BUT in it’s heyday pretty bad-ass for a 4dr.
I’m the 3rd owner of this 1989 Ta**us SHO. 3.0 Yamaha v6 with 220hp and a 5spd standard transmission. Is running top notch. Gonna leave the “patina” and matte clear it.
All stock... 0-60 under 7 seconds, 15’s in the quarter, and tops out 140+......... my kind of “grocery-getter” ..

I have a 390 now a 445 stroker built at a local machine shop. I am pretty disgusted at this point. The motor runs great it’s in a 65 f100 Which I have towed a vintage airstream camper coast to coast. I have put close to 30,000 miles on this engine but since day one I cannot keep it cool!!! I have a brand new 3 row high efficiency core factory copper radiator good fitting fan shroud high volume fan high flow water pump. The smallest pulley on the water pump I can buy and the largest pulley on the crank I can find 180F thermostat. For the most part I can drive the truck down the road no promblem it will run between 170-200 depending on the day and what I’m towing but when it idles it will overheat within 10 minutes on a cool 60F day in the shade I am at a loss what else to do with the engine what timing do you guys run? I am gonna look into my timing again. Could it be an internal engine issue? Coolant always stays clean no pressure and oil always stays clean. ..

I won't say I saved them, but at least they are inside now. The black hooded one is a Stage 1 with automatic. I was looking for a frame and found the car under "car parts for sale" on Craigslist. The guy who sold it knew about white hooded car sitting behind a barn, and since the automatic car was robbed of most of it hi-perf parts I later bought the second car aswell. That one is also a Stage 1, but with a 4-speed transmission. It retains is original engineblock and M21 transmission, and also the original rearend. There's lots of rust in this second car, that I was going to use as a parts car for the automatic. But since it has its bornwith drivetrain I will keep it intact.
The automatic is documented by the GS Historic Society, and the 4-speed by the POBF-sheet that I found on top of the gas tank. ..

Hi, maybe someone can help me with this bought a 350 Chevy from AutoZone and a 350 flywheel doesn’t fit looking at the rear. The crank looks like a 400 crank. But the casting numbers on the block come back as 350 ..

Here's something you don't see everyday.... this is by my hometown the rest of this is in response to the 400 plus comments. What is it with all you guys on here? All you so called purest? you think that someone can't envision a classic car in a cool way and make it fun? Maybe you're just rude in your way of thinking... close-minded and selfish. Allow someone to utilize their own resources and have fun with them and appreciate it as maybe it's an art or maybe it's not but that is in the eye beholder isn't it? Isn't that the concept after all of owning, and or restoring to one's own satisfaction? I say grow up and realize there's much worse things happening in the world and someone taking a car that you have no idea what they brought it back from and make it into something that they love. We all love vehicles on here try to love with each other does or shut up ..
