Meet Ron Racine, one of the advisors on our United ADAS Collective Advisory Board.

He performed his first ADAS calibration in 2004 on a Volkswagen Phaeton. 20 years later, he’s an industry veteran and brings deep experience across vehicle dynamics, wheel alignment, and NVH.

Ron believes the industry is underestimating the importance of ADAS recalibration, and OEMs need to better support the aftermarket with the repair information and equipment it actually needs.

He joined the UAC to help drive consistency in calibration standards and advocate for fair reimbursement.

Congress introduced the ADAS Functionality & Integrity Act, and if you're in collision repair, aftermarket, or calibration, this is worth paying attention to.

Until now, there's been no clear standard for how ADAS should be calibrated after modifications. This bill would direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to develop modification ranges, tolerances, and test procedures, starting with 2028 models.

Combined with the 2029 federal mandate for automatic emergency braking, the timeline is moving fast.

In the short term, compliance costs will rise. In the long term, clearer standards will cut down on the wasted time and rework that costs shops money. This is a fundamental shift for the industry, and one we’re keeping an eye on at Revv.
