When we started 10 years ago, we were a bunch of wild kids fresh out of college and deep into the Great Recession. They said we would be a lost generation. But we thrived through it along with 9/11 and Sandy because that’s what New Yorkers do. We push, pull, and power through it like we about to catch the last express train on the 7. Last Monday, we closed down all our locations, not out of fear, but to conserve our strength. Our team has regrouped to LIC with the community to plan in the war room and roll out our plans. For the past month, we’ve been studying what happened in China and Korea. The great once laid it out, “everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth” so we made sure to make many. None of these plans involved us sitting on the sidelines and reaching out for a handout. We don’t know for certain how long this will last and so if you’re going to give a handout, give it to the homeless or the brave women and men on the front lines. Don’t get us wrong though, we might not make it to our 10th birthday in October. Regardless, this could’ve been said many times throughout the decade but we always finessed it. As we face the biggest existential threat to the entire hospitality industry, we will not tremble in the face of fear nor betray our wits and toss our humanity out the window. The golden rule still applies. We will place our trust in the team and move forward, perhaps to our demise, but always to victory. If you would like to support us, we are releasing to the public for the first time our merch ($100 for hoodie, $50 for aprons for all the home cooking ya’ll be doing and shipping our sauces ($20). Venmo the shipping address and size. Also, our ghost kitchen is up in LIC/Astoria, hit the link in bio. You’ll see what we’ve been up to and more to come in the next weeks. Till then, stay safe and always keep it Korilla.
