PAINT CORRECTION DETAIL & 5-YEAR GRAPHENE COATING,,,
BEFORE & AFTER PICS AT THE END,,,
So my co-worker Owen brings his Father in with his 2009 Dyna and wanted me to bring it back to life. So we crunched numbers, went over things he will need for the aftercare of his investment and set a date to bring it in.
So the bike comes in, I get it on my lift, take the seat off, side covers off and tank dash/gages so I can see what im dealing with. The bike was rough but it is 17 years old, only been washed never Detailed so I had an open canvas to do what I do best ! Let's get into it !
As most of you know I usually start on the wheels, but this time I had the triple trees and risers to polish out. So I started with the first wash, rinse and dry ! Get anything topical that was loose, cleaned the chassis, underseat area and behind the side cover areas !
So I break out the chrome polish and my random orbital polisher and have at it, using various speeds to achieve the end results you see in the pictures ! Get that done and start going along throughout the bike polishing all the chrome. Now on to the spoked wheels/rims FML !!!
These rims had rust on them, they were pretty hurt but still able to clean them up but there is permanent damage,,, im a Paint Correction Specialist not a Magician lol but i was able to bring the rims, spokes and hubs back to life !
Now its time for the second Wash, Rinse and Dry ! Get all the chrome polish residue off, clean the chassis up, especially by the oil filter area, also the neck area where everyone overgreases the neck bearings,,,, WHY ??? lol.
So now its tike to attack the clearcoat/paint ! I break out the Menzerna FG-400 (compound) and SF-3800 (polish) and start with the front fender, then tank, then rear fender, the rear fork (swingarm) and last but not least most of the chassis, long as the machine fits ill buff it out. So thats all done,,, time for the 3rd and final Wash, Rinse and Dry !!!
Now its time to prep the clearcoat/paint for the Graphene Coating ! This is the most crucial part if this job, cause its expensive, its an investment. It's also calls for aftercare maintenance, you dont slap a coating (Grapehene or Ceramic) and just think you never have to wash it again !!! After maintenance washing there's topper coats to apply if you wanna get the most if not more out of your investment. It's not hard people,,, I send a text message to all my customers after we're done if what they need to buy and use to maintain their investment !
So I prep the clearcoat/paint with prep-spray which takes away any topical impurities such as wax, grease, fingerprints, environmental fallout that may have been sprayed in the air by my co-workers or outside, it happens, we gotta work together here. So I go over the machine twice using multiple microfibers just to ensure we have proper adhesion. Long as this step is done properly and its maintained after that you will have a coating that will last the advertised time and possibly longer !
So now its time to put the first layer of Graphene Coating, I wait two hours to apply the second coat ! Not necessary but the Graphene Coating I use can be layered. I put the second layer on out of courtesy and to ensure my work knowing it is leaving the shop correct. Now its up to the owner to maintain it !
Now i wait another two hours before assembly! Tank dash/gages go back on, side covers go back on, seat gets leather/vinyl conditioner applied, the underside is cleaned and conditioned and thats the last piece to go on before the bike is assembled and looks better than new !
I put it under a cover was able to cure for a few days, I informed the owner no washing or waxing for a couple weeks, after that follow my instructions and this bike will look good for a long time !
So that job is done, on to the next,,, Thank You All for the Support & Patronage You All have shown MySelf and Moroneys Harley Davidson,,, it is appreciated immensely,,, Thank You !
