🏡 HUD Code vs. Modular — What’s the Difference?

One of the biggest questions we get from home buyers is: “What’s the difference between a HUD Code manufactured home and a modular home?”

Here’s the simple version 👇

🔹 HUD Code Home: Built to the federal HUD Manufactured Home Construction & Safety Standards and inspected throughout the building process.

🔹 Modular Home: Built to the applicable state/local residential building codes and typically constructed in sections at a factory before being transported to the home site.

Both can offer beautiful, comfortable, quality housing—but the construction standards, codes, and requirements are different.

💡 Buyer tip: Don’t assume “manufactured” and “modular” mean the same thing. Understanding how your home is built can help you make a more informed decision!
