Have you ever caught a redfish and wondered just how old it was? ๐Ÿค”

While the only way to determine a redfish's exact age is by reading its otoliths (ear bones), biologists can make estimated ages based on length. That's exactly what this chart shows!

A few things to remember:
โœ… Growth rates vary by location.
โœ… Water temperature, food availability, habitat, genetics, and s*x all play a role.
โœ… These are estimated ages, not exact ages.

Yesterday brought a WSW wind and it was definitely on the breezy side. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’จ With the water temp sitting at 87ยฐ, we knew we'd have to adjust our game plan.

We bounced around to a few different spots, stayed patient, and it paid off. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’ช We managed to put some snook on the line despite the conditions! Sometimes it's not about fishing your favorite spot... it's about finding the fish that want to eat. ๐Ÿค™

One of the coolest sights in fishing is watching a tarpon slide out of the grass and onto a sandy beach in crystal-clear water. ๐Ÿ‘€

The game plan? Stay patient, stay quiet, and wait for the right opportunity.

This angler got his shot and laid two casts right in front of the fish. For a moment, it looked like it might happen... but the Silver King had other plans. Just like that, he turned and drifted back into the grass. ๐ŸŒŠ

That's tarpon fishing. Hours of waiting for a few seconds of opportunity. Sometimes you win. Sometimes the fish does.

Either way, it's hard to beat a front-row seat to the hunt. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŸ
