The Seamen's Church Institute's (SCI) Center for Maritime Education (CME) provides best-in-class simulator based navigation training. The CME's Pilothouse Management Course is 2.5 days of quality professional development for wheelhouse personnel taught by instructors with real world tow boating experience.

CAPTS Tony Dardar, Johnny Cheramie, and Allan Shumaker (seen here) attended the course at the CME's Houston campus recently.

"Sending wheelhouse personnel to Houston each year is a important component in our company's efforts towards continuous improvement," said Michael Nation, Harbor Towing's COO.

Coming soon: Star Fleet East, our new barge fleeting facility on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway!

Set to open late July 2026, the facility will add:
☑️ 4,000 linear feet of fleeting space
☑️ 20 monopile mooring dolphins (54" diameter, spaced 185 ft apart)
☑️ A 470-foot center lane for ease of tow building�
☑️ High-strength synthetic mooring lines exceeding regulatory requirements

Modeled after our flagship Star Fleet facility, this expansion brings our total capacity to 8,000 linear feet across our two New Orleans facilities — allowing us to serve barge lines on both the river and the GIWW.

"Star Fleet East is a direct response to what our customers have asked for—more safe, reliable fleeting capacity in the Port of New Orleans," said Todd G. Clower, our CEO and third-generation owner. "My grandfather founded this company in 1970 on a simple idea: give barge lines a first-class New Orleans towing and fleeting operation with personal service and attention to their needs. Star Fleet East carries that vision forward on the Intracoastal Waterway."

250 YEARS STRONG🇺🇸

This year, America turns 250. From the very beginning, mariners have been part of that story. When the country was young and fighting for its freedom, merchant sailors carried the gunpowder, food, and supplies that kept the cause alive. In every war since, mariners kept the supply lines open — crossing dangerous waters so others could keep fighting. A nation isn't just built by the people who make the speeches. It's built by the people who move the goods. That's always been the mariner.

And no place tells that story better than the Mississippi. Whoever controlled this river controlled the heart of the country — that's why the young United States fought so hard to keep it in American hands. Cotton and grain went down, tools and goods came up, and the river tied a whole nation together.

That work is still happening today — on your watch. Every time the Pamela Ann, the Wendy C, or the Jimmy Baer pushes a tow down the river, our crews are part of a line that runs back 250 years.

So this Fourth of July, we are proud of our great nation. We're not just watching American history pass by — we're helping push it forward.

Congratulations to Corey Clement!🎉

We're proud to announce that Corey has earned the US Coast Guard's endorsement as a Master of Towing.

Corey's is a story anyone who came up down the bayou will know well. Raised in Montegut and a graduate of South Terrebonne High School, he first stepped aboard a towboat as a deckhand at 18 with LeBeouf Brothers Towing. Like so many from our corner of the world, he put in his time on shrimp boats and in the offshore industry before joining the Harbor Towing family as a deckhand in April 2015. From the deck to the wheelhouse, he earned every step along the way. This credential is the payoff for years of hard work, long hitches away from home, and a genuine dedication to the trade. Corey, your Harbor Towing family couldn't be prouder — and we have no doubt your sweetheart Lacey and your son Collin are proud of you as well.💙

Construction of Star Fleet East has begun!🎉

Located between mile markers 9 and 10 on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway East of Harvey Lock — also known as the East Canal — this new barge fleeting area will stretch 4,000 linear feet and provide safe harbor for our customers transiting to and from the Port of New Orleans along this important waterway.

The new fleet should be operational in four to six weeks.

We were delighted to give Kristiann App, Chief Commercial Officer of the Port of New Orleans, and her team a tour of the new fleeting area as well as our existing barge fleet. As always, we deeply appreciate the hospitality and professionalism of our vessel crews. Special thanks to MV WENDY C! 💙

Yesterday, America's Tall Ship, the USCGC EAGLE, arrived in the Port of New Orleans for the Sail 250 Celebrations. As she passed by Star Fleet our MV JIMMY BAER and MV WENDY C stood at attention and saluted her by sounding their horns.

Riding aboard the EAGLE as she passed was our COO Michael Nation. Semper Paratus!🇺🇸

Happy National Maritime Day!

Today our nation honors the men and women of the U.S. Merchant Marine — the professionals who keep America's commerce flowing and our economy moving. This day also reminds us of the sacrifice of our WWII Merchant Mariners, who suffered a higher casualty rate than any branch of the U.S. armed forces. More than 9,000 gave their lives delivering the fuel, food, and troops that won the war. Today's American mariners stand on the foundation they built.

To our Harbor Towing crews serving aboard the MV JIMMY BAER, MV PAMELA ANN, and MV WENDY C, — THANK YOU !!. Thank you for the skill, the seamanship, and the pride you bring to this work every single day. Thank you for the long hours, watches stood in heat, cold, and adverse weather, not to mention the missed time with your families. You are the heart of this company.

We also want to recognize the Jones Act — America's original "America First" law. Since 1920, it has ensured that goods moving between U.S. ports travel on American-built, American-owned, American-crewed vessels. It protects our mariners, our jobs, our shipyards, and our national security.

To every U.S. Merchant Mariner sailing today — fair winds, following seas, and our deepest thanks.

We were delighted to support Florida Marine Transporters, LLC (FMT)'s 23rd Annual FMT Charity Golf Ball Bash. ⛳️

Proceeds from the tournament fund the mission of the FMT Charitable Fund which supports charitable causes in the regions served by the Northshore Foundation as well as those important to Florida Marine employees and stakeholders.

The Northshore Community Foundation is a catalyst for philanthropic activity in a four parish region in Louisiana and a driver of major civic efforts.

Recently our COO, Michael Nation, participated in We Work the Waterways' Maritime Interaction Day to St. Tammany Parish Public School high school students at the Maritime Museum in Madisonville.

These events introduce students to meaningful careers in maritime, shipping, and logistics. We Work the Waterways is a national non-profit started by industry leaders over 20 years ago and has been a positive force for raising awareness of the importance on the U.S. inland river system.

We were extremely honored to host COL Scotty Autin, the commander of the US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District for a tour of Algiers Lock and Industrial Lock.

COL Autin is from Houma and is believed to be the first Louisianan to serve as the commander for the New Orleans district.
