Opening day of blackfish season was a success! We started the season off strong with a full 4-person limit of tog, 3 sea bass, and a bonito to top it all off. Not a bad way to kick things off!

The tog season is officially underway, and weā€™ve got plenty more fishing ahead of us. If youā€™re looking to get out and put some quality fish in the cooler, reach out and letā€™s get you on the boat!

Absolute blast out there this morning! The fishing was nonstop all morning long, with fish after fish keeping us busy. The fall run is in full swing and the fishing has been absolutely on fire! Easily one of my favorite times of year to be on the water!

Pretty wild what goes on right behind the boat every night. I keep a green light running off my dock, right behind my fillet table, and it attracts an insane amount of life. The bait gets packed into these almost perfectly round balls, circling nonstop while the striped bass hang underneath waiting for their chance to feed. I could sit here and watch this stuff for hours.

Canā€™t beat getting your hands on a slob of a striper like this! These are the fish that keep us coming back for more. Thereā€™s nothing quite like battling a big bass on light tackle!

Yesterday morning was absolutely insane. We got on the albies around 8 AM and it was basically nonstop until noon.

Legitimately miles and miles of birds with albies blowing up underneath them everywhere you looked. Weā€™d start a drift and stay on them the entire way. As soon as one feed would finally die out, within a minute or two another one would pop up right next to the boat. Off the bow, behind us, on either side, it didnā€™t matter. They just kept popping up nonstop.

Four straight hours of chasing feeds, screaming drags and bent rods. One of those mornings where the amount of life around the boat was just unreal.

Went out looking for stripers last night and somehow this absolute slob of a sea bass decided to join the party. Definitely wasnā€™t what we were targeting, but nobodyā€™s complaining when one like this comes over the rail.

Absolute bass beatdown last night.

Fished through the rain and the fish were absolutely chewing. We had a hell of a night with some serious quality mixed in. Big stripers, screaming drags, pouring rain and we just kept picking away at them.

Nights like this are what fall fishing is all about. Throw the rain gear on and go catch them. The bass fishing is on fire right now and weā€™re only getting deeper into October.

Iā€™m running night or early morning trips every day until blackfish opens October 10th. Reach out if you want to get out there and get in on this bite while itā€™s this good.

Blackfish season opens October 10, and Iā€™ll be fishing for them out of New London until the season closes at the end of November.

If youā€™ve never eaten blackfish, youā€™re missing out. They eat a lot of crabs and shellfish, and the meat is firm, mild, and great fried, baked, or in a chowder. Theyā€™re a blast to catch, especially when a good one tries to bury you in the rocks.

Trips are $200 per person before gratuity. I can take up to five anglers depending on conditions and the groupā€™s experience. I have dates open throughout the season, so message me here or call or text 860-840-1902 to get on the boat.

New London, CT ā€¢ Just after high tide

The norā€™easter was getting pretty nasty last night. Wind was ripping through the marina and you could see the spray getting blown right off the waves as they were breaking.

I couldā€™ve pulled the boat and brought her home before it came through, but I really didnā€™t think it was necessary. My slip gives me a pretty good amount of protection and luckily I was able to keep the boat on the opposite side of the dock from where everything was coming from.

Still right in the mix of it, but the old girl was tucked in about as good as she could be and stayed safe all night.
