World Championship Gumbo Cookoff weekend is huge for us. It truly is a team effort. The planning begins a year ahead of time. The entire week before is a preparation process to organize and get everything just right. While it was exhausting, it was worth it. To spend much needed time with family and friends was the reward. The competition was fierce, and we did not make it to the final round, but no trophy can take the place of spending time with people you love. Creighton and Collin work so much during the year at the driving school. This was a great opportunity for them to spend quality time with family and friends they do not get to see often. Not to mention, the family, friends, and our sweet students that we must thank for stopping by our tent to grab some gumbo or just to say hello. The gumbo was cooked with lots of heart I assure you. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this weekend a success and to everyone who stopped by our tent just to say hi. Team Mottley Roux will be back next year. The planning has already begun.

🎉 Today is Collin’s birthday!! Please help us wish Collin a Happy Birthday!

📍 Fun fact about Collin.

After Collin was born, he was at Pelican Driving School a few times a day. His Maw Maw, founder of Pelican Driving School, would keep him at the driving school while his Mama worked during the day. The first picture below is Collin sitting on the floor of what used to be the classroom of Pelican Driving School. He would then go to the driving school before and after school to eat breakfast and do homework. Years later, Collin would be sitting in a chair in that same classroom, as his Maw taught him driver’s ed. What a fitting way to spend a birthday, at one of the places that is sentimental to him and he now owns. Call him today at 337-364-0660 and wish him a Happy Birthday!!

We love our students, parents, and our community. Over the years, we and our instructors have molded our students in to safe, defensive drivers, who often tell us later that they remember what we taught them. Teaching is not always about the latest and greatest methods that are popular. It is about instructing so that building knowledge helps the student retain the information learned for years to come. We take pride in knowing our students take the information that is taught to them and apply it and share it for many years.

Thank you to Komade for blessing us with coffee! By far the best coffee in Iberia Parish, go give them a try! Always remember to support local!

As many of you know, each month it is our family’s goal to bless one local business in our area with free drinks (coffees, Krazes, teas, chillers, etc).🥤

For August (we know, we are a little late!), we were able to bless a local business with drinks of their choice to help power them through their work day!💪🏼💻 Our August businesses of the month is Pelican Driving School!! Shoutout to this awesome local business for teaching so many of us how to drive and for all that they do for our community🚘🚦🛑

Do you know a local business that could use a sweet pick me up? Comment them down below!📲⬇️
