IT’S BEEN A MINUTE. The fishing has been STELLAR, but it hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies! What brought us a heaping helping of also brought in LOTS & LOTS OF WATER!
On one hand, you have to be stoked about the timing. A fall FULL MOON usually starts migration patterns, you mix that with a lumbering nor’easter and baitfish won’t have any choice but to enter the bay and SEEK COVER. Those ain’t far behind.
Of course, with all that GREAT NEWS, you can’t forget that it’s also probably going to push 2-3’ of water into YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL TACKLE SHOP. They might lose a freezer… or two. A live well may decide it wants to move south for the winter. To say the least, it hasn’t been EPIC FUN getting the pieces all back together. BUT THE SHOW MUST GO ON. The shop’s cleaned up, the bait wells are back on and running and those EELS will be back early this week. We’ll be getting our BLOODWORM stock back in check and hopefully be rocking and rolling this upcoming week.
And to cap it off, NO BOATS FLOATED OFF their blocking. NO BOATS SUNK in the SAFE HARBOR of our protected basin. The tide may rise but the vessels did not rock and bash. GOOD NEIGHBORS watched out for each other and unclogged scuppers, triggered bilge pumps, and kept their eyes on waterlines.
I COMMEND ALL WHO CHOOSE ALLEN’S DOCK AS THEIR HOME AWAY FROM HOME. We are a different breed and it’s the best kind. The kind who cares for their neighbors and also doesn’t drinking a b**r in chest waders. KEEP CALM AND STRIPER ON!
