🚨🏁 THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHY WE TAKE SAFETY SO SERIOUSLY AT SC MOTORPLEX! 🏁🚨
The picture I’m sharing is from an incident at another racetrack where a car came out of the water box, went sideways, and made impact with individuals.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE HAVE THE RULES WE DO!
I cannot tell you how many people I have argued with because we pull our gates closed and restrict access to the starting line. People get upset, complain, and sometimes act like we are just trying to make things difficult. I’ve even had to tell parents they cannot have their children standing in these areas.
And I tell them the same thing every single time… IT’S FOR YOUR SAFETY, NOT MINE!
Accidents happen, and in racing, things can go from perfectly fine to life-changing in a matter of seconds.
Our racers are strapped into their cars with seatbelts, helmets, and safety equipment designed to protect them. Crew members are NOT. Spectators are NOT. And children certainly are NOT.
If you pay attention at our track, you’ll notice that even our own staff stays in protected areas behind concrete barriers whenever possible. There is a reason for that!
We love our racing family. We love having spectators close to the action. But there is a time and place for everything, and NO picture, video, up-close view or bet is worth someone’s life.
Please, when you visit our facility or any racetrack, respect the safety rules and the people enforcing them. Don’t put yourself or your children in a position where something like this could happen.
I’d rather have 100 people mad at me for closing a gate than have to explain to one family why their loved one isn’t coming home.
My heart goes out to everyone involved in this incident. I pray the person injured makes a full recovery. 🙏
🏁 At the end of the day, racing is what brings us together, but making sure everyone goes home safely is what matters most.
