Some projects carry a certain feeling the moment they roll through the door. This late 1930s–early 1940s midget racer is one of them.
Built in an era where speed, ingenuity, and hand craftsmanship went hand in hand, the car still carries its original engine — recently rebuilt by its owner, who himself is a record-breaking Bonneville Salt Flats motorcycle racer. The history and spirit behind this car feel perfectly matched to the machine itself.
It came into our shop after what is believed to have been damage from a fallen tree branch, requiring extensive metal repair work to bring the body back into proper shape.
Projects like this demand patience more than anything. Old hand-formed bodies rarely give up their shape easily, and every repair has to respect the craftsmanship and character already built into the car nearly 90 years ago.
There’s something deeply rewarding about preserving pieces like this — not just repairing damage, but helping keep the story, the history, and the craftsmanship alive for the next generation. #
