Some builds deserve more than a quick reveal. 👀🔊

Remember that copper-chassis head unit we shared a while back?

This is the build it was waiting for.

Nearly a decade in the making, Thomas finally trusted us with bringing the system he’d been envisioning for years to life inside his Expedition.

For now, here’s a quick behind the scenes look at the sub enclosure and build-out. Clean fabrication, clean installation and a system designed with one goal in mind: it didn’t just need to hit hard, it needed to sound GOOD.

Some builds are about more than the equipment. They’re about finally bringing a vision years in the making to life.

Remember that beautiful copper-chassis head unit we shared a while back? This is the build it was waiting for.

Thomas purchased that competition-level stereo nearly a decade ago, knowing that one day it would become the centerpiece of a custom audio system built to truly take advantage of what it could do.

After years of waiting for the right time to make that investment, Thomas trusted Vega Designs with his Expedition, and as fellow audiophiles, we were just as excited to build it as he was to finally hear it.

The goal wasn’t simply to make it loud. It was to make it clean.

Even without sound-deadening treatment, the bass hits hard and clean without unwanted rattles and interference taking away from the listening experience. It’s the kind of system where the power is impressive, but the clarity is what makes you want to keep listening.

“MAKE ME INVISIBLE.”

That was the request from the owner of this Ford truck who traveled all the way from Colorado to Nashville, officially making it our 22nd state represented at Vega Designs.

And making a Uniden R9W disappear on this truck wasn’t easy.

The bull bar completely changed our typical shifter placement, so Miguel used 3D scanning, digital design and custom fabrication to engineer a solution specifically for it.

No exposed wires and No obvious sensors. In fact, there’s a good chance you’ll look right at the system and never realize it’s there.

These custom-designed, in-house manufactured shifter pods were built specifically for the Uniden R9W, then hydro-dipped in carbon fiber to perfectly complement the widebody kit we installed on this build.

Everything has a purpose. Everything has to look the part.

🇺🇸 HAPPY LABOR DAY! 🇺🇸

While you’re taking a much-needed break from emails, deadlines, meetings, and the general nonsense of being an adult, we figured we’d give your brain a little trip back to when Pizza Hut was cool. 😎

Miguel is in Fusion 360 designing an updated, custom 3D-printed ashtray for one of our current audio builds on this classic Olds.

Rather than sticking the new switches wherever they happen to fit, he’s designing a completely new replacement ashtray that integrates the bass, tune, and… “Fun Switch” all cleanly into the vehicle while keeping the factory appearance intact.

And about that “Fun Switch”… 👀

Let’s just say it controls a little piece of 1980s nostalgia that’s about to make an entire generation feel like they’re 12 years old again.

Because at Vega Designs, upgrading a vehicle isn’t just about adding new technology. Sometimes it’s about finding a really cool way to bring a little bit of the past along for the ride.

Never stop learning. Never stop evolving. 🔥

We’re sending part of the Vega Designs team out to California in October to spend three days learning from our talented friend JT Torres and his team at Automotive Entertainment OC.

With our new 3D scanner now in the shop, we don’t just want to know how to use it. We want to understand how to use it to its fullest potential.

This hands-on Digital Fabrication Training takes the entire process from scan to real-world part:

• Capturing accurate vehicle geometry with 3D scanning
• Proper scanner setup, coverage and scan quality
• Cleaning and aligning raw scan data
• Reverse engineering scan meshes into accurate CAD
• Creating dimensionally correct, buildable models
• Rebuilding complex surfaces and factory contours
• Working through the process in Fusion 360
• Taking a digital model all the way to an engineered, install-ready component

Why does taking our current knowledge to the next level matter to our clients?

Because mastering this technologygives our team another incredibly powerful tool for custom fabrication. 🎶 CLEAN WIRING = CLEANER SOUND

You can buy the best speakers, amplifiers and digital signal processors available, but they can only perform as well as the installation connecting them.
