OVERSIZED MOVE:
Saturday, August 13
Beginning at 6:00 AM

LMI will be moving a barge from City Dock to Lake Camp.

We will begin at 6:00 AM Saturday morning from City Dock and anticipate turning off the highway at Sockeye Saloon by 7:30 AM. We should be passing the Lake Camp/Rapids Camp Y by 8:30 AM and finally reach Lake Camp Boat ramp by 10:00 AM.

Due to the size of this load (50’ by 20’) we will utilize 4 pilot cars and the Assistance of BBPD. This load will take up the entire road for an extended period of time and may cause delays in travel. We offer this notice so that community members may adjust their schedules accordingly and not be inconvenienced by this move. We do appreciate your cooperation.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Bill Emory at 907-631-2664

NOTICE

A fuel tank was discovered leaking, in the Naknek Shipyard operated by L&M Equipment, by a community member who posted the discovery on their page. Upon seeing that post, LMI immediately deployed personnel to investigate and found a tenant’s fuel tank had been intentionally tampered with, causing the leaking fuel.

The tenant notified all Federal and State agencies last night immediately after learning of this situation.

LMI took preliminary action by scraping back contaminated soil to keep the spill above the night’s high water mark & is beginning full remediation efforts this morning.

L&M Equipment would appreciate any information leading to the identification of the individual(s) responsible for this irresponsible act.

We are currently in search of a safety minded individual to fill the position of a heavy equipment operator moving commercial fishing vessels that support Bristol Bay Salmon Fishery. We launch/haul out/store 150-32' fishing vessels. Safety minded is a must. Must have valid drivers license and be able to pass a background check. Must be able to lift 65lb. Starting wage DOE. Work hours average 8/10hr day, 6 days per week until peak, where we work 7 12hr days. During the peak we work AM and PM tides day and night.

Our existing crew is a small tight knit group of folks that watch out for each other. We work long hours, but don't take ourselves so seriously that we forget to laugh. LMI is looking for a commitment to work the entire season from May to August with potential to work until October and return seasonally.

Have you ever wondered how in the world we haul out those HUGE barges? Well, here you go! This is a quick video we made of LMI making history by hauling out the Michelle Adele. She is the largest/heaviest vessel to be blocked up in remote Western Alaska!

Fun Facts: The Michelle Adele weighs in at 4.3 million pounds (yes she floats!) She is a "Super Tender" which means she buys up to 1 Million pounds of salmon before being unloaded by a tendor, which allows the Michelle Adele to stay on the fishing grounds for the whole fishing season. You can get fuel, groceries, nets, do your laundry and even take a shower aboard, making it the most convenient and unique way to keep fishing!
