So I've got to say that I'm starting to think that almost every single automotive repair shop, dealership, body shop, and tire and l**e place besides maybe a handful of places that I have been able to come to trust over the years down here is trying to rip people off, or just absolutely lazy to the point of not even trying to diagnose a vehicle properly, or maybe just never received the proper knowledge understand how a vehicle actually works! Between the vehicles that I have purchased that reputable dealerships and repair shops have told these customers that to fix their vehicle would cost $4,500 because it needs a transmission, or needs a variety of different repairs and would be pretty much not worth repairing because of the cost, or customers that have come to me trying to save a couple bucks on the repairs just to find out that what they were told is not even the issue and was a super simple repair! I mean this is just getting ridiculous! A friend of mine yesterday went to two different shops both reputable ones from what I have thought and been told, and they both told him that the reason why is car is smelling like rotten eggs from under the hood and why it started smoking yesterday was because the alternator was overcharging the battery. They had all kinds of fancy equipment and made it look really good to try and get a few hundred dollars out of a repair and battery replacement, when within 5 minutes I'm debunked that whole thing! There was no overcharging at all! That alternator was completely fine! The battery was swollen and defective and had overheated causing it to leak acid and smell terrible throughout the car, but not due to overcharging. Alternator was charging that 13.2 volts which is absolutely perfect. They justified this by saying that the vehicle had over 200,000 miles and alternators on a Honda don't typically last that long. Well why would you lie to the man and try to pull some crap! So what was supposed to be a $400 repair and $180 battery replacement, I fixed with a $67 refurbished battery from interstate with a warranty. If you guys are having these issues, let me know where you're having them and what's going on, even if you don't come to me for any work. Trying to stop this stuff from happening to everybody so help the next person if somebody tries to rip you off and let me know where it's happening and what's going on. Thank you
