Air-cooled people, this is how we kick off a weekend.

Join us at PMB Performance on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00 PM for the Air Cooled Bash, the official kickoff to Salt Lake City’s Air Cooled Weekend.

We’ll have the grill fired up with brats and hot dogs, plenty of air-cooled cars filling the lot, and a car show with an EMPI $250 gift certificate going to the winner.

Bodywork starts long before the paint.

Diane’s #435 Spec Boxster is on the frame machine, and Richards is working through the measurements to get the chassis back where it belongs before they start replacing metal.

The key is making controlled pulls and constantly checking the reference points—moving the damaged area without creating a new problem somewhere else. Frame rails, pinch welds and surrounding structure all have to come back into spec before the next phase can begin.

There’s no sense making new panels fit a crooked foundation.

Measure it. Pull it. Measure it again. Then start putting the Porsche back together.

After replacing the rear trunk pan, the job wasn’t finished just because the metal was straight and solid. The seam sealer needed to look right too.

Porsche didn’t apply this stuff with surgical precision at the factory—and neither should you. We carefully recreated the original seam-sealer patterns and texture before paint so the finished trunk doesn’t look “restored.” It looks like it belongs there.

Now it’s painted, the details are going back in, and this 914 is one step closer to looking exactly the way Porsche intended.

That’s the difference between simply repairing a car and restoring it.

From old to new, monster race car in just FIVE days — we went all out on Diane’s 986 Porsche SPEC Boxer build!
Bodywork, paint, wrap, assembly, and straight to the racetrack for the big reveal and shakedown. The car looked insane, sounded even better, and Diane was absolutely flying… until the finale didn’t go as planned.
Sometimes you build the dream in record time just to learn the hard way. This one hurts, but the journey was epic. Huge thanks to Clayton Stark and the entire crew at Summit Auto Lab for making this crazy timeline possible!

The rear trunk floor repair on this Porsche 914 LE Creamsicle continues with one of the most important finishing steps: seam sealer.

In our previous video, we showed the repair panel installation. This video focuses on sealing the seams and recreating the two factory seam-sealer techniques Porsche used when these cars were built.

This is a common repair area on most 914s, and getting the seam sealer right helps protect the repair while keeping the finished work looking factory-correct.
