**Public Service Announcement**
If you have a roadside assistance service, an insurance claim, warranty work claim, stuck in the ditch, etc, and the 1-800 number you called is telling you they cannot find a provider to do the tow, chances are, they have not called me. I hear it at least a couple of times a week from customers that they have been waiting hours, up to several days for a tow, such as a customer from Pembina a few days ago. The provider tells them they cannot find anyone to come to this area. I do not show up on every company's radar, so you may have to request Knutson Towing specifically.
Be aware that your policy may only cover the first few miles of a tow. The roadside company may send a tow company from 146 miles away, as what happened to a customer from St. Thomas the other day. They were expecting him to pay the difference as his policy only covered the first $200. The company coming from Fargo would have exceeded that before they even arrived.
Even if you do have a policy that covers a portion of the tow, it is often upcharged by the dispatching company. It may be cheaper to go outside of the network, and seek reimbursement after. They are often watching their bottom line, and not what is best for you. The roadside companies such as OnStar, Allstate, Progressive, GEICO, Fleetnet, etc to name a few, do not have their own tow trucks. They rely on independent companies such as myself to do the work for them. They then make a portion for handling the call, sometimes 2-300% mark-up on my rates, such as a repeat customer from Grand Forks found out that his roadside company was doing to him for his fleet of vehicles.
If they tell you I am coming, and you have not heard from me in a reasonable amount of time, there is a good chance that they have not actually contacted me, and are shopping around for bids, so feel free to call me directly.
I have hundreds of satisfied customers in this area that can attest to the service and rates they received, but am often overlooked by the big name insurance and roadside companies servicing this area.
