Daily scripture for thought from Chaplin Ron.
1 Corinthians 15:58
"THEREFORE, MY BELOVED BRETHREN, BE YE STEDFAST, UNMOVEABLE ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD, FORASMUCH AS YE KNOW THAT YOUR LABOUR IS NOT IN VAIN IN THE LORD."
In the time of Christ, Jews were divided in their beliefs about the resurrection. The Pharisees believed there would be a physical resurrection; the Sadducees were equally convinced there would not be a physical resurrection. Also, many Greeks believed that the body was left behind when they died and only the spirit remained.
Paul defended the resurrection and explained that death, for the believer, is not the end. Because Jesus defeated death we know that we have eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul also encouraged believers, reminding them their hard work was not in vain. "Steadfast" means to trust in a truth completely, much like resting on a chair that you've trusted to hold you many times before. "Unmovable" In this verse means unshakable. Paul was admonishing believers to trust God in everything, unmoved by false teachers or circumstances.
Have family problems, a friend's betrayal,
the death of someone you love, or family member, or some other crisis made you want to guit? Are your finances a disaster, your marriage on the rocks. Look up, for the answer is only found in the Lord Jesus. Don't quit. You, as a believer will always find hope in the precious steadfast, unmoveable promises in God's Word.

Today’s song is by the late Jimmy Swaggart.

The old gospel song Precious Lord, Take My Hand speaks to every believer who has ever faced a difficult season in life. There are times when we are tired, weak, discouraged, and uncertain about what lies ahead. The songwriter doesn’t ask for an easier road. He simply asks the Lord to take his hand and lead him safely home.

The Bible reminds us that God never intended for us to walk alone. David wrote in Psalm 23:4 (KJV):

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Notice that David said he would walk through the valley. God doesn’t always remove the valley, but He promises to walk with us in it.

The song also reminds us of those moments when darkness seems to surround us and the night grows long. In those times, we can cling to the promise of Isaiah 41:10 (KJV):

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

What a wonderful promise! The same hand that created the heavens and the earth is the hand that holds His children.

One day, every believer will come to that final river mentioned in the song. But we do not have to fear. Jesus said in John 14:3 (KJV):

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Until that day, may our prayer be the same as the songwriter’s: “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, lead me home.” When we are weak, He is strong. When we are weary, He is faithful. And when the journey is over, He will safely lead us home. Amen.

If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. Proverbs 15:31
The operative word in this proverb is constructive. We may read the proverb and think it justifies all criticism. There is an abundance of destructive criticism from people who have no desire to be constructive. Their very nature is destructive. They could say “supper’s ready” and it would probably make you lose your appetite just by the way they said it. But, constructive criticism builds just as it implies.
I read a book several years ago by Hall of Fame football Coach Don Shula. His Miami Dolphin team completed a perfect season winning all seventeen games including the Super Bowl. My takeaway from his book was this; He said he never overlooked anything. Every play, or individual action, executed perfectly was acknowledged and every incorrect action was criticized, constructively. We all need such a mentor. If you are a believer in Christ Jesus and have received his free gift of the Holy Spirit, you have a mentor superior to the greatest coaches. Those who listen to his constructive criticism will definitely be at home among the wise.
