PSA of the day: Get rid of old gas cans! Keep your gas cans clean!

A customer had called and said her tractor would run for 20 minutes and stop. So, I get there today. It would only run on choke. Which tells me the carburetor is dirty. So, I pulled the carb and found all this white flakey stuff in the gas. I cleaned the carb. I checked the fuel filter next, and it was full of the same debris. I drained a sample of gas from the tank onto an oil absorbant pad, and saw all the same white flakes. I dumped the tank and cleaned it. I flushed the fuel hoses. I installed a new filter. I filled it with my gas can (NON-ETHANOL GASOLINE). The machine uns perfectly. I mowed her front yard, about 20 minutes with no problems
I went looking for her gas can... galvanized steel. It was oxidization from the galvanized steel. I advised her to purchase a new gas can and to start using NON-ETHANOL gasoline.

CONSIGNMENT SALE: A friend is selling her self-propelled yard vacuum. They are great for picking up autumn leaves. She asked me to go over it to make sure it doesn't need anything, and I find it is in perfect working condition. It was well maintained by her husband (a master mechanic, held to the highest of regards by many). He always stored it properly in the off-seasons. The machine starts, runs, and drives perfectly. The bag is in great condition. The asking price is $250.00. Please message me with any interest. Get it before it is listed on marketplace in the near future.

There are lots of things that can cause your lawn tractor to "make a terrible squealing sound when I turn the blades on". I've seen wet grass, sticks, rocks, lawn ornaments, rope, dog chain, pieces of carpet, tarps... this was my first SNEAKER! I have to say, Skechers makes a quality shoe. It was still good!
