🚤 Future Captains Start Here! 🌊⚓
There's nothing more rewarding than helping the next generation develop the confidence and skills to safely enjoy life on the water.
This week, Anthony (12), Nicholas (15), and their mom took the helm of a 19-foot jet boat during one of our Skippers Club hands-on training sessions. They completed both Close Quarters Boat Handling and Open Water Training, learning how to safely operate a jet-powered vessel in a variety of real-world situations.

✅ Understanding wind, current, and boat control
✅ Practicing open-water handling and safety
✅ Building confidence together as a boating family
Jet boats handle very differently than traditional propeller-driven boats, making proper training even more important. Learning how the boat responds at slow speeds, in tight spaces, and out on open water gives these young boaters a solid foundation that will benefit them for years to come.
At NY Boat Lessons, we believe there is no better classroom than being behind the helm. Our Skippers Club is designed to teach young boaters the skills, judgment, and confidence they need to become safe, responsible captains. Families are encouraged to learn together because boating is an activity best enjoyed together.

Another fantastic week on the water with an incredible group of students!
Congratulations to everyone who chose to invest in themselves by learning from a Certified Captain Instructor. Taking professional, hands-on lessons builds the confidence and skills that self-teaching simply can't match.
Too many boaters struggle with docking and close-quarter maneuvering because they were never properly trained. Our students are proving that the right instruction makes all the difference.

Another fantastic day on the water out of Oakdale, New York!
👏👏 Congratulations to Tina, who absolutely rocked today's close quarter maneuver training. Her passion for boating was evident from the start, and she approached every challenge with confidence, determination, and a willingness to learn.
One of the most important skills in boating is staying calm, cool, and focused—and Tina did exactly that. From docking maneuvers to handling the vessel in tight quarters, she demonstrated patience, control, and excellent decision-making throughout the lesson.
It's always rewarding to see boaters gain confidence at the helm and develop the skills that make boating safer and more enjoyable for everyone aboard.
Great job, Tina! Your positive attitude and passion for the water are a winning combination. Keep practicing, keep learning, and keep making waves! 🚤💪⚓️

Today's training was another great reminder that passion, determination, and a willingness to learn are the true ingredients for success on the water.
👏👏 A big round of applause to Sandy and Patty for their outstanding work during today's hands-on training! From close quarter boat handling to building confidence at the helm, both ladies demonstrated focus, patience, and a positive attitude throughout the lesson.
It's inspiring to see more women stepping aboard, taking charge, and developing the skills needed to boat safely and confidently. The boating community is stronger because of women like Sandy and Patty who are proving that it's never too late to learn something new and challenge yourself.

This past weekend, Sam and his two boys participated in the National Safe Boating Council's hands-on training program, acquiring skills in close quarter maneuvers and high-speed open water maneuvers. They have a strong interest in boating and are considering buying a boat for their family.
