Scottie Bishop, 82, of Town Creek, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 05, 2026 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Bro. R.C. Borden officiating. Burial will be at Fergason Cemetery.

Born on April 10, 1944 to the late Enos and Kathleen Counts Bishop, Scottie worked as a truck driver for many years but will be remembered as a self employed "Jack of All Trades". After retiring, Scottie loved to spend the day with his daughter, Laura, watching Westerns and aggravating each other.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Bishop; children, Angela (Mack) Parker, Heath (Rhonda) Bishop, and Laura Bishop; grandchildren, Kelly (Morris) Stephens, Zach (Lindsey) Parker, Myles (Paula) Parker, Lucas Bishop, Brandy (Bunt) Eddy, and Bo (Brandie) Bradford; and a house full of great-grandchildren; sister, Magdalene Johnson; brother, Ronnie (Donna) Bishop; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Scottie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Hershel Bishop.

Pallbearers will be Zach Parker, Myles Parker, Lucas Bishop, Bo Bradford, Morris Stephens, Braxton Letson, and Cameron Rolling.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Helen Keller for all of their care given to Scottie.

Sonya Latasha Johnson, 48, of Mount Hope, Alabama passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at her residence.

Born on June 15, 1978, to Junior Fulks and Shirley Terry Owens. Sonya was a good hearted person who loved deeply, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her mother, Shirley Owens; brother, Donald (Loreasa) Purser; cousins, Wayne Hill and Stevie Hill; aunt, Phyllis Terry; and extended family.

Sonya was preceded in death by her father, Junior Fulks; and brother, Shane Fulks.

Melinda Faye Kasser

Melinda Faye Kasser, born November 28, 1961, passed away peacefully at her home with her family to go be with the Lord on August 28, 2026.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bob Kasser; daughters, Stephanie Rigsbee, Tiffanie (Derek) Haver, April Dutton, and Teania Kirby; son, David Allen; 13 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Ray, and Carol Ray; brother, Thomas Thrasher; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Melinda was preceded in death by her parents.

Melinda was full of music and song in her heart always. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and she surely loved her Lord. Melinda loved to see people smile and be happy and she would always be there with open arms and ears. She will forever be loved and greatly missed.

Brenda Kay Chamness Lovelady, 71, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Brenda's wishes were that all of her services be held privately with her immediate family, and we appreciate the love and support at this time. Burial was at Rutherford Cemetery.

Born on May 24, 1955, to Andrew "Buster" and Eula Mae Harville Chamness. Brenda was a pillar in the community, and worked with us at Lawrence Funeral Home for 25 years. She was a magnificent cook, especially a great baker at making cookies, cinnamon rolls, and birthday cakes for everyone she loved. Brenda enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel music. When you saw Brenda she always greeted you with her smile, and when you left she was sure to hug your neck and tell you that she loved you. We are saddened with her loss, but we can rejoice in the fact that she's no longer suffering and has went to be with the Lord.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Roger Lovelady; sons, Jerome (Heidi) Lovelady and Dustin Lovelady (Hayley James); grandchildren, Landon Lovelady and Brenley Lovelady; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew "Buster" and Eula Mae Chamness; sister, Debra Lovelady; and daughter-in-law, Jenny Lynn Lovelady.

Pallbearers will be family and co-workers.

The family extends special thanks to all of her doctors and nurses that have helped her during her time of illness, and the community for their continuous support, love, and kind words of encouragement.

Noonie was born on May 11, 1943 to Roy and Wilene Fretwell Fike.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Ashley; grandchildren, Donald Ray Fogle, Thomas John Fogle, Jr., Aaron Michael (Kacy) Brown, Lydia Nicole Ashley, Megan Grace Ashley, and Joshua David Ashley; 6 great-grandchildren ; sisters, Margie Vaughan, Peggy McMurray, Shelia Raney, Pamela Jeffreys; brothers, Waymon (Barbara) Fike, Leverle (Debbie) Fike, Daughter-in-Law Cindy Ashley, and special mention son Gary Schmidgall. Ricky Curtis Terry, 65, of Moulton, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 10, 1961 to the late Joseph and Liddie Kelly Terry, Ricky was proud to share his birthday with his daughter, Hannah. A 1979 graduate of Courtland High School, Ricky never met a stranger and always looked for ways to cheer everyone up through jokes and laughter. Some would say he loved his pets, Pebbles and Grasshopper more than his own family.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years Cherie Latham Terry; daughter, Hannah (Jacob) Killian; brother, Heath Terry; sister-in-law, Tina (David) Rutherford; nieces, Kassie (Cody) Terry Jones, and Bailey (Jason) Terry; nephews, Adam Terry, Nathan (Kaytlyne) Terry, Zack (Gracie) Terry, Brandon Jackson, and Brock (Katlin) Rutherford; great-nephews, Jarrett, James, and Jed Rutherford.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Joe Terry; grandparents, Maybelle and Leander Terry, and Steller and Curtis Kelly; and father-in-law, James "Jimmy" Latham.

Born on September 1, 1968, to William and Francis Brock Kelley. Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Toby. She loved the beach and vacationing there with her family.

Survivors include her children, Anastasia (Brad) Davis, Cortney Morgan, and Derick (Kayla) Beene; grandchildren, Kevin Davis, Allie Morgan, Kensleigh Beene, Jaxson Morgan, Parker Davis, Caroline Morgan, Lucas Beene, and Cooper Davis; brothers, William (Kristina) Kelley Jr. and Charles Kelley; sisters, Karen (Rodney) Wise and Sharon Millsap; her loving dog, Toby; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Born on April 28, 1936, to Ellis Floyd and Mary Estell Luallen. Vernell enjoyed listening to gospel music, gardening, cooking, spending time with her friends and family, and going on cruises.

Survivors include her children, Yon (Shelia) Spigle and Barbera (Bill) Everett; step-children, Donnie (Ann) Wilson, Gwin (Dottie) Wilson, Charlotte (Raburn) Gillespie, and Sherry (David) Heaps; grandchildren, Nicholas (Crystal) Spigle, LeeAnna (Clifton) Garrett, Sarah Beth Everett; great grand-daughter, Evelyn Rose Garrett; sister, Vernice Luallen Parker; special friends, Loretta Rutherford, who took her to singing and the storm shelter, Shirley Henderson, who would give her rides to church, and her great neighbors, Bobbie Alexander, Marie Millwood, Alethia Burgess and her daughters, who would all take care of her when she lived in her apartment. From her Wilson family she has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, Riggins Howell Terry.

Vernell was preceded in death by her husbands, John Rena Spigle and Layton Wilson; parents, Ellis and Estell Luallen; sister, Vernalou Montgomery; step-son, Greg Wilson; and step-grandson, Brandon Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Tony Montgomery, Tim Montgomery, Tad Montgomery, Chase Wilson, Nicholas Spigle, and Carson Simpson.

Born on June 6, 1952, to Dee and Beulah Knight Terry. In Beverly's early years she enjoyed long-haul trips with her husband, Billy. She loved to read, cook for her family, and rocking her babies in her chair. She also loved to spend time outside in the yard swinging, or tending to her flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her spouse Billy of 54 years; children, Ginger Zamora and Billy D. Terry; grandchildren, Eloy (Katie) Adame, Mike (Lorena) Adame, Christian Zamora, Tina Terry, Megan Terry, and Keith Terry; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Beulah Terry; brother, Ulan Terry; grandson, Kevin Terry; and nephew, Phillip Terry.

Pallbearers will be Eloy Adame, Mike Adame, Shaun Richardson, Jimmy Johnson, Cory Martinez, and Trevor Dawson.

Jerry Wayne Blevins, 79, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 1:30 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Owen Chapel Cemetery with Ben Phillips officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on June 2, 1947, to Troy and Lena Crauswell Blevins. Jerry was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served two terms as an elder of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Decatur. Jerry was a man of many talents, but his greatest love was that for his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved all children and was generous with helping children in need, especially at Christmas. Jerry always cherished St. Jude.. He loved all sports, specifically golf and football. He could light up a room just by walking in, always with a smile on his face, and singing a Moody Blues song. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jane White Blevins; children, Matthew (Katy) Blevins, Steve (Natalie) Page, and Todd Page; grandchildren, Will Blevins, Katy Blevins, Pasha Page, Sophie Page, Claudia Sparks, and Will Sparks; sister, Marcie Keith; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Lena Blevins; brothers, Doug Blevins, Samuel Blevins, Jack Blevins, and Allen Blevins; sister, Amelia Blevins Jones.

Pallbearers will be Steve Page, Todd Page, Pasha Page, Will Blevins, and Zach Little.
