Donnie Ray Campbell, 75, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at NHC of Moulton. The graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Hardshell Cemetery with Donnie Smith officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on March 5, 1951, to John and Delois Swims Campbell. Donnie was a life-long resident of Lawrence County who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be missed by his loved ones.

Survivors include his children, Amy (Michael) Blankenship and James (Christin) Campbell; grandchildren, Haleigh (Zane) Streater, Westin Blankenship, Trinitey Campbell, Haydin Campbell, and Allyson Campbell; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Emma Streater; sisters, Diane Hulsey, Gail Massey, and Kathy Franklin; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Campbell; parents, John and Delois Campbell; brothers, Wayne and Buddy Campbell.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Barbara Sue Smothers

Barbara Sue Smothers, 87, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, at her residence. The graveside service will be held privately to respect Barbara's wishes at Moulton Memory Gardens with Bro. Randy Copeland officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on October 31, 1938, to Charley and Eva Delashaw Alexander. Barbara was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. Above all her favorite thing to do was to watch Newsmax and staying current on world events.

Survivors include her sister, Gayle Cross; nieces, Kendra (Jay) Blankenship, Meleah (Gwen) Terry, Becky (Jay) Williams, Brandi (Chris) Naylor, and Kassandra (Greg) Hill; nephews, Charlie Alexander, James Alexander, and Scott Smothers; and extended family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smothers; parents, Charley Alexander and Eva Terry; brothers, Charles Alexander, Clifton Alexander, and Fred Alexander.

Pallbearers will be family.

Wendell Irvin Shields Sr.

Wendell Irvin Shields Sr., 78, of Mount Hope, AL, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 07, 2026 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Jonathan Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Methodist Cemetery.

Born on January 11, 1948 in Moulton to the late Raymond and Letha Nolen Shields, Wendell loved hunting, and fishing. He was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan and an avid Alabama fan. Wendell was a truck driver for over 50 years after driving a school bus in his younger years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Gayle Shields; children, Wendell Shields, Jr., Raymond (Tara) Shields, Wendy (Scotty G.) Terry, Jason (Robin Jones) Shields; grandchildren, Courtney, Samantha, Chealsee, Kayla, Chris, Crystal, Anthony, Rachel, Audrey, Spencer, Michael, Jason, and Destiney; many great-grandchildren; sister, Irene (Harlon) Farrar; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Shields, Jason Shields, Josh Head, David Head, Kevin Ragen and Zaylen Scott.

Clyde O'neal Parker, 74, of Hartselle, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 04, 2026 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Bro. Ronald Oliver officiating. Burial will be at Landersville Cemetery.

Born on August 24, 1952 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Clyde and Rosie Pauline West Parker, O'neal enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Deacon at Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Connie Parker; daughter, Kristie (Nick) Bates, grandchildren, Jimmy (Tia) Williams, Kolton (Jadyn) Bray, Kourtney Bray, and Gunner Bates; great-grandchildren, Miles Williams, and Stetson Williams; sister, Opal Rabren; brother, Harold (Emily) Parker; 15 nieces, eight nephews, and O'neals two sweet little pets, Runt and Sally.

O'neal was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Parker; brothers, Gary (Diane) Parker, Charles (Rocky) Parker, and Ronnie Parker; sisters, Magdalene (William) Mcdougle, Sue (Charles) Mitchell, Ozelle Parker, and Barbara-Ann (Arnold) Richardson; nephews, Dustin Parker, Robert Mcdougle, and Bobby Richardson; nieces, Teresa Hanes, Sherry Shelton, and Deborah Stout.

John Nelson Riley Sanders

John Nelson Sanders, 33, of Decatur, passed away on August 29, 2026 in Hartselle. A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Fergason Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Henderson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home assisting the family.

Nelson was born June 2, 1993, in Morgan County, to John A. Sanders and Cheryl Speake Holt. He was a graduate of Hatton High School , class of 2011. He was a wonderful son, brother, and friend to people from every walk of life. He had a love for life whether it be walking along a creek or river bank, hiking in the woods, metal detecting on his property or spending time with his family and his many friends. Nelson loved the outdoors and always put the needs of others before his own. He was employed by North Alabama Electric, Inc., as a Vice President, prior to his passing.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Clarion and Wilma Bernice Carroll, James Coy Speake, and Willard Ray Sanders.

Survivors include his father, John Sanders; mother, Cheryl Speake (Ricky) Holt; sisters, Brittany Herbert McDonald and Chelsea Sanders; brothers, Jeremiah Holt and Logan Shelton; nieces Evelyn Barr, and Heaven McDonald; nephews, Reece McDonald, Elijah Barr, Jayden Holt, and Landon Holt.

Wally "Ray" Sherrill, 91, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at NHC of Moulton Moulton, AL. Born on October 22, 1934, to Herbert and Bessie Garrett Sherrill. Ray was a member and deacon of New Zion Baptist Church. He loved making baskets and bottoming chairs. Ray loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his children, Janet (Reggie) Sprinkle and Timothy (Jan) Sherrill; grandchildren, Gunnar Sherrill, Krista (Stan) Drinkard, and Erin Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Brett Drinkard, Mia Mitchell, and Max Mitchell; brother, Joe (Lillie) Sherrill; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sherrill; parents, Herbert and Bessie Sherrill; brothers, Wade and Wallace Sherrill.

Born on July 9, 1950, to Garnett and Betty Bertyshaw Cross. Judy loved her dogs, flowers, and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Virginia Lee Lovelady, 90, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Cottage of the Shoals. Born on July 7, 1936, to William and Myrtle Beavers Farley. Virginia Lee Lovelady passed away peacefully, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of faith, family, and service to her community.

Virginia was a longtime member of the Hatton community and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was also a longtime staff member of the Hatton High School cafeteria, where she was known and appreciated by many.

Virginia loved flowers and gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She also had a special love for Alabama football.

Survivors include her children, James A. (Angela) Lovelady Jr., Dr. Steve R. (Nita) Lovelady, and Michael L. (LeeAnne) Lovelady; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Thelma Cagle; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Lovelady Sr.; parents, William and Myrtle Farley; brothers, William Farley Jr. and Hershell Farley; and one sister, Melba Kerby.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lovelady, Zach Lovelady, Chad Lovelady, Josh Lovelady, Gunner Lovelady, Stephen Lovelady, Caleb Lovelady, and Chet Terry.

Curtis Hall

Curtis Dennis Hall, of Deatsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2026.

Curtis was born on April 10, 1942, to Dennis and Ella Mae Nelson Hall. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from his family and the time he spent making memories with those he loved.

Curtis is survived by his daughter-in-law, Dawn (Jeff) Roy; sister, Vickie Sanford; brother-in-law, Billy Smith; sister-in-law Juldeen Hall; grandchildren, Kayla (Matt) Davis, Trey (Hannah) Hall, and Baylee Brothers; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Hall, Campbell Davis, Tinslee Brothers, River Hall, Brooks Davis, and Lainey Hall.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Freda Hall; his son, Brian Hall; his parents, Dennis and Ella Mae Hall; brothers, Corbet Hall and Walter Hall; and sisters, Myrtle Pugh and Dorothy Smith.

Curtis will be remembered for his loving heart, devotion to his family, and adventurous spirit. Some of the most treasured memories his family will carry with them are the many years he spent pulling his grandchildren behind the boat as they learned to ski, fishing, taking walks with his dogs and grandchildren, and simply enjoying the time spent together. He had a special way of bringing joy to those around him and created countless memories that his family will treasure forever.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Adoration Hospice and Faith Caregivers for the compassionate care, support, and kindness they provided to Curtis and his family. Special thanks to Deidra Worthy, Greg Worthy, Melissa Flores, Andrea Ware, Brenda Sullivan, Danielle Ware, and Britney Cleckler. Your kindness, dedication, and love meant so much to Curtis and his family during this difficult time. The family will forever be grateful for the comfort and dignity you provided during his final days.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:00 at Moulton Memory Gardens. The service will be graveside only.

Curtis leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations. His greatest gift was not something that could be held in a hand, but something that will live forever in the hearts of the people he loved. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry with them the memories of boat rides, long walks, laughter, adventures, and the simple moments that became some of life's most treasured memories.

Though his family will miss his presence, his love will remain-in every story they tell, every memory they share, and every moment that reminds them of him. He lived a life filled with love, family, adventure, and countless moments worth remembering.

Curtis may no longer be walking beside his family, but the path he made through their lives will remain forever. He was deeply loved, he will be deeply missed, and he will never be forgotten.
