“CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2026 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Elecsys pTau217 plasma test (Roche Diagnostics) for use in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease in patients presenting with signs or symptoms of cognitive impairment.

This is the fourth blood-based biomarker test for Alzheimer’s disease cleared by the FDA — the second in the past week — continuing the field’s progress toward more accessible diagnostic tools.”

See the latest facts and figures about the Alzheimer’s Crisis facing our nation. The Alzheimer’s Association funded the U.S. Pointer Study which prescribes a recipe for brain health. Cognitive Exercises to challenge your brain. Health Monitoring with your physician to control blood pressure and blood sugar. Nutrition, following the MIND diet. Finally, Physical Exercise. 30-35 minutes of aerobic activity 3 times per week and strength exercises 2 times per week. For the last point, I highly recommend our local Snap Fitness Morgantown. You can go there anytime that fits your schedule. They have a great APP for your phone that guides you through the exercises. Our own Michelle Raymond is a trainer there to help you. Many Medicare plans will cover your gym fee. My plan has me paying $28/month. We really need to make brain health a priority. Let’s get off the sofa and go!
