🟦 BOAT BATTERY SEMINAR (Wrap-Up Post)

🎣 Spring Fishing Season Is Here — Don’t Get Stuck at the Ramp

We’ve spent the last couple posts breaking down Lead Acid vs AGM vs Lithium and how to size your battery system correctly…

Now here’s the bottom line:

⚡ Most trolling motor and electronics issues we see in the spring are battery-related.
Weak batteries, bad connections, corroded wiring, incorrect chargers, and undersized systems will ruin a fishing trip fast.

Before you hit the water this spring, let us check your setup and make sure everything is ready.

🔧 Alabama Trolling Motors Spring System Check Includes:

✅ Battery testing
✅ Charger testing
✅ Wiring inspection
✅ Trolling motor performance check
✅ Breaker/fuse inspection (ABYC compliant)
✅ Terminal cleaning & connection check
✅ Voltage drop diagnosis (electronics + trolling motor)

🚨 If your graphs flicker…
🚨 If your trolling motor feels weak…
🚨 If your batteries are 3+ years old…
🚨 If your charger doesn’t fully charge…

It’s time to get it checked out before tournament season and weekend traffic hits full swing.

🟦 BOAT BATTERY SEMINAR (Part 4 of 4)

⚡ How to Choose the Correct Battery Size (Amp Load Made Simple)

A battery can be brand new and still be the wrong battery for your boat.

Here’s the simple way to size it:

✅ Amp Hours Needed = Amps × Hours

Example:

Graph pulls 3 amps × 8 hours = 24Ah

Livewell pulls 4 amps × 5 hours = 20Ah

Accessories pull 3 amps × 2 hours = 6Ah

That’s already 50Ah just in electronics.

Most boats need WAY more battery than people think.

⚠️ Also remember:

Not all battery types give you the same usable power.

🔋 Lead Acid = about 50% usable
🔋 AGM = about 60–70% usable
🔋 Lithium = about 90% usable

That’s why lithium “100Ah” feels like it lasts twice as long.

📍 Want us to size your battery setup correctly and make sure it meets Mercury cranking requirements and ABYC standards? Bring it by the shop.
