August always feels a little bittersweet. There are still plenty of summer adventures left to enjoy, but fall camping season is just around the corner, and honestly, we’re pretty excited about that too. Crisp mornings, cooler evenings, and the beauty of the Western Slope turning shades or orange and yellow make it one of our favorite times of year.

Our sunsets have looked a little different lately.

While the smoky skies aren’t what we’d wish for, they do remind us how much we appreciate the people working tirelessly to protect our communities and wild places.💙

We’re looking forward to the days when we can see the San Juan Mountains crystal clear again from our park. Until then, we’re grateful to continue welcoming travelers, sharing everything that makes Montrose such a great basecamp, and watching people create memories exploring Colorado’s Western Slope.

We’ve had a few guests reach out with questions about the wildfire near Ouray, so we wanted to share a quick update.

The Campers Hub in Montrose is open and operating as normal. The fire is not near our campground, and there are no evacuation orders or threats affecting Montrose or our area at this time. Please visit ouraycountyco.gov for the most accurate updates and information.

If you have a trip planned with us, you can feel confident traveling to Montrose. We continue to monitor official updates closely and will always communicate with our guests if anything changes.

Our thoughts are with the Ouray community, firefighters, and first responders working hard to protect the affected communities.

Some of the best travel days end like this. ⛰️🚐 A front-row seat to the San Juan Mountains that makes you slow down for a moment and appreciate where the road brought you.

At The Campers Hub, you’re perfectly positioned to explore Colorado’s Western Slope, from visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and hiking the San Juan Mountains to exploring charming mountain towns, taking scenic drives, & discovering local wineries, breweries, and endless outdoor adventures. Then, at the end of the day, you get to come back to views like this.

We may be biased, but views like this are one of the best parts of camping in Montrose, Colorado 🏔️

I spy a guest who snuck in without paying, but he’s so cute that we’ll let him stay. 🦝🥰

One of the best parts of camping is sharing the outdoors with the wildlife that calls it home. Even in established campgrounds, curious visitors like raccoons, deer, birds, and other critters may stop by from time to time.

A friendly reminder to keep food secured, clean up after meals, and never feed wildlife. Not only does it help keep the animals safe and wild, but it also makes for a better camping experience for everyone. 🏕️🐿️

Happy Earth Day from The Campers Hub 🌎

Out here, it’s all about creating a place people can enjoy for years to come. This past week we have had a team out here planting dozens of trees! Trees that will provide future shade for campers, a little more habitat for wildlife, and a step toward bringing more life back to this land.

It’s a small step and they're little now, but it's a step that will make a lasting impact. 🌲💙
