Houseboat walls are specially designed to balance structural strength, thermal insulation, and minimal weight to keep the vessel buoyant and stable.

High humidity and constant condensation require non-porous or closed-cell foam cores to stop mold, warping, and fungal decay.

Rot and decay inside a houseboat wall are caused by trapped moisture combining with wood-destroying fungi that feed on the structural fibers of the timber. It is VERY important to address and replace rotted wall as soon as possible because houseboats exist in a constant, year-round high-moisture environment, wood rot is an aggressive, progressive issue that rarely stops on its own.
