The featured race of the 10 race card was the $9,000 Open Trot with a field of 7, last week’s winner of the Open, Little Town road was a Judges scratch. Makin Magic Tonight (R. Silvestri III) was on top after splits of 29.1 – 59.2, at the half Reel Em In (J. Devaux) started the first over flow followed by Grey Clouds (K. Dibenedetto) and began tracking the leader. Makin Magic Tonight was still showing the way in 1:29.1. DC Anna (B. Aldrich Jr.) who made a break last week and was still able to get up for third money was 6th at the 5/8 marker, he came off the last turn 3 deep and was able to motor home past the leaders in deep stretch to sn**ch the win in 1:59.3, KJ Title (J. Taggart Jr.) was flying down the lane and was able to get second place followed by Reel Em In. Bruce Aldrich is part owner, trainer and driver of the winner who increased his win total to 9 with earnings of over $60,000.

Greg Merton and Jennifer Petrelli scored back to back wins aboard Great Bet 1:56.1 - and Captain Dee Tee 1:58 early in card and then came back for a triple with Kenob 2:00.1 andthen with Crazy Train in 1:55.4. Hungry Joey (R. Silvestri III) got his first win of the year in 2:01.4 for trainer Chris Lefebvre, Jimmy Devaux had a driving double.

Former Monticello Raceway Dash winning drivers Jim Taggart Jr. and Bruce Aldrich Jr. are in a tight battle for third place, going into today’s card Aldrich had 131 wins and Taggart had 129. During the course of the day Taggart had a double and Bruce had one winner. Today’s tally is Bruce with 132 and Taggart with 131. Mike Merton has a commanding lead for the top spot with 192 wins his nearest competitor is his brother Greg with 153.

Tammy Sowers has a 13 win lead over Jennifer Petrelli, Bruce Aldrich is third with 59 winners hailing from his barn.

Today’s action saw Jim Taggart and Ralph Silvestri III each nab driving double on the 10 race card., Ponda Eagle (R. Silvestri III) literally won by the length of the stretch in an epic charted 37 length win advantage over the second place finisher in 1:54.2 -$2.12

Little Town Road continues his dominance in the Open Trot ranks at 3 different tracks, this afternoon he nailed his 3rd consecutive win in this class. DC Anna made a break at the start of the race, The Last Chapter (R. Franco) played hardball with Southwind Bansee (K. Dibenedetto) and had him parked via splits of 28.1, 57.1 The Last Chapter was still on with the lead at 1:28.1. Approaching the next station Prince Archie (T. Merton) made a 3 wide sweep on the leaders with Little Town Road right behind him. In the paddock turn Little Town Road (M. Merton) was in high gear and easily grabbed the lead from the Last Chapter to get the win I 1:58.2, Reel Em In (J. Devaux) was second followed by a late and fast closing DC Anna. For Little Town Road it was his seventh win on the year for trainer Bryson Dunning.

Owner – Trainer Driver Charles Poynton scored with his Mike The Knight in 1:58.2, Smoking Hot Dude (K. Dibenedetto) notched his tenth win of the year for trainer Jim Doherty Jr. in 1:55.2

Rusty Beach seems to be regaining his sharp form he displayed earlier in the year, this afternoon in the $9,000 Open Pace he was used hard trying to make the top by Zander (J. Ricco) parking him to the opening panel in 27.1. Once he made the front he clicked off splits of 57.1, 1:26. At this point he had to contend with Lupa (R. Silvestri) who briefly gained a slight advantage over Rusty Beach in the paddock turn. Down the lane they was a horse race horse but Rusty Beach and Tommy Merton prevailed 1:55, his best winning time this season and picked up his eight victory of the season for trainer Richard Dunn. Lupa would hang on for second while Zander was third.
Ideal Asset (J. Taggart Jr.) earned his first lifetime win, scoring in 2:02.1 for trainer Dustin Miller
Ralph Silvestri III took both ends of the early Double aboard Proudamericangirl 1:57.3 & Why Tommorow Ray 1:55.3 and finished the day leading all drivers with a triple, Tammy Sowers had a training double.

The afternoons first race saw Robert Lounsbury notch his 2,000 career training with Carrera Hanover (B. Aldrich Jr.) in 1:58.4 - $10.18. Lounsbury first recorded training win was in 1993, in his career he has had 9,047 starts and total career earning of $7,781,683. His best year was 2015 when he won 207 races and purses of $646,163, Congratulations Bob!

Little Town Road took the lead from the favorite Making Magic Tonight (R.Silvestri) at the opening panel and never looked back, winning in 1:57 - $5.1, Reel Em in (J. Devaux) was second a length back followed by Making Magic Tonight. For Little Town Road it was his second consecutive win, bumping his seasonal tally to 6 for trainer Bryson Dunning.

The 9-1 Gold Start Mazikeen, (T. Merton) a 3 year old filly by JK Endofanera got her first seasonal win in 1:58 -$21.08 for trainer Michael Rizzo. The 1-9 favorite Shakeitonthebeach (G. Merton) earned his first win on the year in 1:58, she is trained by Shane Tritton.

Leading driver Mike Merton led all drivers with a Grand Slam on the 10 race card, Jimmy Devuax had a double. Trainer Bryson Dunning had a pair of wins.

The cards featured race was the $9,000 Open Trot, the race saw Mucho Macho (J. Ricco) give the cold shoulder to Makin Magic Tonight (R. Silvestri III) parking him he faded at the 5/8 pole. While these 2 battled it out it set the stage for Jesses Doll to take advantage of the speed duel with a sweeping 3 with move in the paddock turn to draw off and score with a 6 length win margin in 1:57.4, Reel Em In (J. Devaux) was second followed by Prince Archie (T. Merton) Jesses Doll is trained by Michael Meza, it was her fourth seasonal win.

Brownie Points (M. Merton) made it 2 in a row for trainer Ron Langley, defeating Win And Dream by a head in 1:59.4. Also duplicating the feat was Brand Ambassador (G. Merton) who also earned a new time record of 1:58.1 for the 3 year old gelded son of Tall Dark Stranger, he is trained by Frank Calgagni.

Fourth place leading driver Kyle Dibenedetto led all drivers with a Grand Slam, scoring with Wireless Caller, Mission Voyage, Jesses Doll & Freds Finale. Bruce Aldrich Jr. had a pair of winners as well.

The afternoon’s card was a 10 race card that featured the Melissa Appelblatt Memorial Pace and we witnessed Elliott Moeykens win his first pari-mutuel race.

Elliott Moeykens, a 19 year old provisional driver recorded his first lifetime pari-mutuel aboard Lizziana in a 2 length winning effort in 1:58.3, the 7 year old mare is owned and trained by his Dad Joe Moeykens. When Elliott returned to the paddock he promptly received the customary dousing from the well-wishers in the paddock, Congratulation Elliott and the first of many to come!

The Melissa Appelblatt Pace was won by Rock A Honey with Tommy Merton in the bike in 1:56.2, the winner is trained by Veronica Merton for longtime Monticello Raceway patron and owner Christopher Elia of Warren, NJ.

Jahan Hanover scooted up the rail the sn**ch the victory from Better be Gouda (G. Merton) in the Open Pace in 1:54.3, Smoking Hot Dude (K. Dibenedetto) was third. It was the aged gelding third seasonal win for trainer Tammy Sowers.

Leading trainer Tammy Sowers recorded a triple, on the other side of the Ledger leading driver Mike Merton had a double as did Bruce Aldrich Jr.

Monticello, NY - The reigning queen of her division Cowboy Candy remained unbeaten after taking her spilt of $52,500 New York Sire Stake in 1:54.3, one tick off the track record and extended her winning streak to 5.
The divisional leader Cowboy Candy, scored from post 5, the already short field of 5 was whittled even more with the late scratch of Too Pink To Pass. Cowboy Candy causally made her way to the top and set the tone with an quarter of 27.2 & 56.3 followed by Phast Phyllis (L. Bailey) Positions remained unchanged until the 5/8 maker when (Clear Choice) B. Boyd took aim on the leader to force the issue and the tempo, they hit the next panel in 1:26.1. Turning for home Jordan Stratton was confident and went on for the 3 length win in 1:54.3 - $2.46, LQ 28.2. Phast Phyllis was second followed by Huntsville Honey (M. Kakaley) With the win Cowboy Candy pushed her season bank roll to $151,200, the daughter of So Surreal - Caviart Elana is of trained by Aaron Lambert for owners Chain Lightning Stable LLC of Beach Haven, NJ.

The second heat was a 5 horse contest worth $52,500 that saw Annie O and Leon Bailey go wire to wire to a 7 length score in 1:55.2 - $6.72 for her second consecutive Sire Stakes win. Maxina (G. Merton) sat the 2 hole throughout the mile and finished second despite throwing in extra steps throughout the mile. Win Me Over (B. Boyd) was third. Annie O is sired by Huntsville – Rapunzel Blue Chip and is trained by Andrew Stafford.

The 9 race card also had 3 heats of the Excelsior Stakes that saw the 1/9 favorite Prop Bet extended her win streak to 3 straight, the American Ideal – Courage Bet filly went wire to wire in a 3 length score in 1:56.2 -$2.10 with Matt Kakaley handling the driving chores for trainer Travis Alexander for owners Fiddlers Creek Stable LLC.

Where is the Love (L. Tritton) earned her first lifetime win in 1:55.4 in dramatic fashion, scoring a 13 length romp over a field of 6. Linda Toscano trains the offspring of Huntsville – Itzapoloti. The final heat saw the divisional leader Spider Claire who was content to sit a gapped fourth until the half. Down the backside the So Surreal - Notagin filly exploded out of the hole and began tracking and overtaking Bellissimiabluechip (G. Merton) for an easy 3 length winner with Matt Kakaley in the bike for trainer Paul Roy

Next up for the New York Sire Stakes Circuit at Monticello Raceway are 3 year old Trotting Fillies on Monday August 17, post time 12:10.

The Doherty brothers each recorded wins on the 11 race program, first up was Jim who scored with Photobombr Hanover (J. Ricco) in 1:55.2. Mikes win came with Bueller and Winter Asher Stalbaum in 1:56.1 -$ 17.68. Queen of Egypt (B. Aldrich Jr.) won in wire to wire fashion in 1:56 for co-owner, trainer Lisa Martin. CR Dudley dropped down in class and got the win for Rick Harp in 2:01.4 - $3.08 on a track rated sloppy after a heavy downpour, he is owned by Christina Klein.

Rock Diamonds N (R. Cushing) continues to dominate the $6,000 claiming ranks, the aged gelding has strung together a 5 race win streak for trainer Tammy Sowers. Ron Cushing would go on and led all drivers with a double.

After a strong start at the beginning of the season DC Anna seems to be back on track and in form, this afternoon the 9 year old mare benefitted from Making Magic tonight cutting the mile in the Open Trot and sitting on her back and getting the win in 1:57.3 $4.60 for trainer driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. it was her 8th win on the year, Makin Magic Tonight (R. Silvestri III) settled for second money while Reel Em (J. Devaux) In was third.

The days winning combination was Tommy Merton and Greg Decker Jr. they teamed up for a pair of wins with Prince Archie 1:59.2 -$4.54 & Snowport 2:00.2 -$3.14.

Sicano continues his winning ways, he made it 4 in a row, 5th win in 6 starts, the 3 year old is trained by Al Annunziata and has been driven by Ralph Silvestri III in all his wins.

The 38-1 longshot, Manny L enjoyed sitting behind the pacesetter Ackles Hanover and getting the win in 1:59.1 - $78.96 with Jimmy Devaux in the bike for trainer Robert Gale.

Tommy Merton led all drivers with a triple and Jim Devaux and Ralph Silvestri III had a pair of wins had a on the 9 race card.
