Texas Proud!! ❤️🤍💙

Long before Austin became the capital of Texas, the Republic of Texas conducted its business from several different locations.

One of the most important was Washington-on-the-Brazos.

It was here, on March 2, 1836, that delegates signed the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico and formally established the Republic of Texas.

Because of its role in Texas independence, the town is often called the "Birthplace of Texas."

Today, it remains one of the most important historic sites in the state, even though many Texans have never visited it.

Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️ ‘The Irish came to Texas in the early 1800s. San Patricio & Refugio, towns near Corpus Christi, were the first Irish settlements in Texas. 12 Irishmen died at the Alamo, 14 were with Fannin at Goliad & about 100 fought with Sam Houston at San Jacinto!’ ❤️
