For generations we have been professionally racing Harley Davidson motorcycles. The entire family is very passionate about racing and the industry as a whole. his father and was racing at the young age of 3. Like everyone says "If you're a Roeder, You race." George Sr set the bar high with 8 national wins in his racing career and breaking the Landspeed record in 1965! In 1961 and again in 1967 he was runner-up in the national Flat Tack Championship Series. He was also voted the most Popular Rider in the country during those years. The apple didn't fall from the tree with George II. Other riders often turned to him for advise on the track. George II won over 50 professional races in his career on an XR 750 Harley-Davidson. He won the National Hot Shoe Championship numerous times as well. He is a multi time winner of the "Old Times Newies" in Dayton, OH, winning in it 2004 for the 11th time. It is the biggest non-national event of the season. He has had several podium finishes and had 4 national event wins. Some career highlights include:
2nd place at Lima, OH in 2004 and 4th in Davenport, Iowa. He also had three other top ten finishes that year. Over his career he finished in the top 20 in national points since 1988. His best finish, 8th, coming in 1992 and again in 1999. In 2004 he finished 13th overall for the season. He had 1 National GNC win and 3 PACE-Formula USA
national wins in his career. Now that he is off the race track you can find George II
almost 24hrs a day at Roeder Racing & Service. Not only is he the owner,
he is part of the team as well. George does all the machining and
head work at Roeder's. It's not unusual to walk in the shop and
see George helping a customer or chatting with visitors passing through. Like father, like son. The past couple years George dusted off the 'ole racing leathers and headed over to Wauseon OH for the Vintages races. He took first place in his class in 2010 & 2011, riding a 1941 handshift Indian- built by Kelly George. It's in his blood! If you're ever in the area, stop in and see him!
