We have this first-gen Jeep Liberty 4x4 up on the lift today for a routine inspection and maintenance check. The 3.7L V6 platform is a solid, capable daily driver, but as these models age, staying on top of preventative maintenance is key to keeping them on and off the road safely.

⚠️ Top 3 Things Jeep Liberty (KJ 3.7L) Owners Should Keep an Eye On:

1. Cooling System & Overheating Protection :
The 3.7L PowerTech V6 engine is notorious for being extremely sensitive to overheating. A failing thermostat, aging radiator, or small coolant leak can cause head gasket issues or dropped valve seats very quickly if running hot. Regularly check your coolant level and temperature gauge!

2. Front Suspension & Ball Joints :
First-gen Liberties are well known for wear on the front lower ball joints and control arm bushings. If you notice unusual clunking noises over bumps, uneven front tire wear, or loose steering feel, get your front suspension inspected immediately.

3. 4x4 Drivetrain & Differential Fluid Service :
The transfer case and front/rear differentials work hard on these 4WD systems. Fluid breaks down over time—especially if driven through water or muddy trails. Changing your differential and transfer case fluids at recommended intervals prevents expensive gear and bearing failures.
