We just recently added a new set of BMW panniers, saddlebags, boxes...whatever your favorite word is, to our 2024 BMW f900gs Adventurer. We choose original BMW equipment as I like the build quality better than some of the third party choices. Also, we bought the bags from the BMW motorcycle dealer in Pensacola, so if there is a problem with the bags, there is a local solution available.
One of the features I really like on the BMW panniers is there are 3 locks per bag. 1 on the front of the lid, 1 on the rear of the lid and 1 to keep the pannier locked firmly to the rack. This way the lid can be opened from the front or the back...or unlock both lid locks , flip it over and you have a built in tray to place your tools, parts...or even your lunch. And, most importantly, all locks are keyed to your master BMW key. The way it should be.
This is a set up Paul has been wanting to try for a long time and now it almost complete. And changes are if you stop by and look at this set-up, you will like it as well. After all, what not to like?
Another handy tip. With the hard aluminum panniers, when you get the the campground, unload everything from the panniers, ride up to the campground office and fill them up with ice and close the lid. Great way to keep your food and beverages cold for the night.
