Here's one the old-timers know: when installing your bed strips and bolts, start every bolt loosely before tightening any of them down. Wood moves, holes shift, and if you crank the first row tight, you'll be fighting the last row all afternoon. Snug everything up gradually, working from the center out, and the whole bed comes together square and true.

It's the small habits that make a clean restoration.

As businesses cut back on spending in the 1930s, demand for heavy-duty commercial trucks declined, forcing many GMC dealers to close. Rather than stand still, GMC adapted. In 1936, the company introduced its first light-duty, half-ton pickup, giving Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac dealers a truck that could compete with Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge.

It's a reminder that some of the most iconic trucks were born from resilience, innovation, and the determination to keep America moving.
