Our Environmental Health staff are polishing up presentations and getting ready for the Aquatic Venue Seminar on Thursday! Every two years, we host a day-long seminar for local pool operators to refresh their knowledge and prepare for swimming season.

Operating a safe aquatic venue requires careful attention to swimmer safety, water quality, routine maintenance, and the prevention of physical and chemical hazards. We appreciate the local operators who take the time to stay up to date on best practices and help keep our community pools safe and enjoyable for everyone!

Serving up a reminder to stay active! 🏓

Dr. W***y Fielhaber, a member of our Board of Health, along with Holly, Bonnie, and Lindsay from our team attended a pickleball workshop at the Minot Family YMCA!

It was a great opportunity to get moving, learn something new, and have a little fun along the way. Sometimes the best way to stay active is simply giving a new activity a try!

Last month, we had the opportunity to attend a DUI prevention event at Minot Air Force Base, where we provided interactive education and activities focused on making safe and responsible choices.

A HUGE thank you to the local businesses and organizations that generously donated prizes and helped support the event:

🔹The Vardon Golf Club
🔹Ascend Wellness
🔹Spectrum Fitness
🔹Simonson Car Wash
🔹Magicon
🔹Tasty Cookies

Your support for prevention efforts and our military community is truly appreciated!

Cambree and Jessa attended Salute to Seniors last week and their table was a hit!

They provided vaccinations, free blood pressure checks, no-cost HIV/Hep C screenings, information on our programs and services, and offered Cologuard tests to eligible individuals. They also handed out Deterra bags, playing cards, and fly swatters thanks to our Health Promotions team!

Keep an eye out… you never know where our crew will pop up next! 👀

Last week, staff from First District Health Unit had the opportunity to attend the North Dakota Public Health Association Conference in Bismarck.

The conference brought public health professionals together from across the state to share knowledge, build connections, explore new ideas, and continue growing in the important work being done in our communities. We’re thankful for opportunities like this that help our staff continue learning and growing in public health. 💙
