This 1966 Pontiac GTO came to the shop with some interesting issues.
Awhile ago, this car had some mobile body/paint repair done and the technician applied clear coat, in sections, throughout the whole car, ON SINGLE STAGE ENEMAL.
I was tasked to do what I could with it.
I ended up hand sanding dry to feather the clearcoat edges, machine sanded wet to match the texture of the orange peel on each panel. While I was sanding the team was polishing the rest of the car. When the sanding was done, I polished the clear coat so much that you can’t even tell it’s there.
We topped it with ScratchWerkes Bronze spray ceramic.
I could have easily removed the clear. However, I don’t know what repair was really done, how well it was done or the overall condition of their base color they used.
Overall, everyone was satisfied.
