Northern Star Mustang Club

Minnesota's Largest Mustang Club and Mustang Club of America affiliate. Hello fellow Mustang enthusiasts! These two clubs have since grown to over 350 members.

The NSMC combines the Southwest Metro Mustang Club and the Upper Midwest Region of the Shelby American Auto Club in 2021. The SWMMC was started in 2012, and the UMRSAAC was created in 1981. Our members range from central MN to western WI. We are the Twin Cities chartered Mustang Club of America chapter, as busy and active as any Minnesota car club! Club members own old Mustangs, new Mustangs, fast Mustangs, unrestored Mustangs, daily drivers, and a few trailer queens. Also, some own other types of vehicles. One primary goal of the club is to donate to local charities. So far, we have given over $55,000 to charity. We are currently partnered with the Automotive Technology program at Prior Lake High School to advance the automotive hobby with the next generation of young people. Sunday- Last day for the Sturgis Crew at the Rally. The day started with Cowboy Church at the Thunderdome, then we drew our poker hands from the Poker Run- no winners there! The group then took off for a fun run to Devil’s Tower in WY. A stop on the way back in Spearfish for an Italian dinner. Then it was back to Sturgis for the Awards for the week and the Show and Shine Car Show. A clean sweep of trophies for all of us again this year: Dean, Dan and Shad - Bronze, Kurt and Jackie - Silver, Mike -Gold and Scott - Class Winner! Awesome!
Today was clean up, pack up and depart. Some went directly home but others took off north to Medora ND to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Library. It was very interesting, interactive and unique. We’ll be homeward bound tomorrow. Great weather, awesome scenery, fantastic time with friends and put some miles on our cars. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Update on the Sturgis Crew! Yesterday (Friday) was the Poker Run. We traveled from locations around Sturgis (drag strip) Hill City, Custer and Keystone to get our books stamped. We took a trip around the Wildlife Loop (donkeys, prairie dogs and buffalo) in Custer State Park, Needles Hwy again and ended up in Keystone for dinner at Ruby House. Then home to clean cars for the car show on Sat.
Saturday was the Show and Shine Car Show all day. Our cars never looked better. Estimated 500+ cars. The blue GTD that was at WBL Apple Ford event was here-Bob from Fargo owns it and drove it out to Sturgis. This car is no trailer Queen. Dean got a pic with Heather Storm from Garage Squad. Shad and Andrea and the Bye’s participated in the parade at the end of the show. Relaxing evening after a long day. More planned for tomorrow.

Day 2 in Sturgis! We started our day with a cruise over to Deadwood and our annual Bloody Mary at the Nugget Bar. A stroll thru Deadwood shops and a light lunch at Mustang Sally’s. Then we cruised Spearfish Canyon and more encounters with wildlife- this time Mt. Goats! Dinner at the Latch Spring Restaurent and a cruise home for evening relaxing. Tomorrow the Poker Run! First full day in Sturgis SD for the Mustang Rally. Kurt participated in some auto cross this morning. A free lunch was provided to rally attendees at the Wareing Ford Dealership in honor of military veterans. Then the NSMC crew headed out on the scenic, curvy roads like Iron Mt Road and Needles Hwy, always favorites. We were able to enjoy some wildlife up close and personal. A buffalo was laying down in the middle of a campground, a herd of buffalo leisurely crossed the road stopping traffic and a herd of Big Horn sheep felt they owned the road and didn’t want to move. Dinner at the Branding Iron in Nemo. A great day in the Black Hills. See video in the comments.

We are at the Summer Spectacular car show in Burnsville. We are supporting Apple Valley Ford. We have 2 Cryptic Customs on display. Come and join us on this beautiful day!

Yesterday Sept 8, 19 cars,1 truck and 23 NSMC members attended the Summer Spectacular Car Show in Isanti. The show is put on by the Rum River Rods Car Club of which Nick and Amy Davis are members. It was estimated that 350 cars attended this all makes and models show. Cars were parked all along Main Street and side streets and we were able to park all together in the church parking lot (it pays to know people). Food trucks, craft venders, music, raffle prizes, 50/50 drawing and unique handmade trophies along with amazing weather made it a great outing. Phil and Tammy Zuehl won the trophy for the “Furthest Traveled” which always seems to be their situation! Another great day with cars and friends including some new NSMC members!

Some NSMC members showed up today for the Hot Rods vs Harleys car show in Blaine. The show was sponsored by Twin Cities Harley Davidson and the Ford Hub club. Ford vehicles, primarily Mustangs, won the numbers hands down. Nice day to be outside…..in the shade!
