Update: We thank you for the outpouring of messages, calls and visits, checking in on us over the last few days. We have been lucky enough to remain physically unharmed so far. However, emotionally, we grieve with our community for the gross injustice on our black brothers and sisters by the police, most recently, the murder of George Floyd, whose name is now among a long list of other lives unjustly taken. We have not only been shocked and saddened by the arson and irreversible damage perpetrated on the business around us but feel deeply for our neighbors, customers, and friends whose “American dream” either disappeared overnight or hang in the balance each evening. Lastly, we thank you and each and every member of the community that comes out to help keep people fed and safe, and clean up each nights aftermath. As we look around and see the people work torward rebuilding, restoring, and revitalizing the buildings around us, we hope it comes with reformed, just and equal protection of community.
