FOR SALE 1990 Jeep Comanche, 5-speed manual, 4.0 straight-6. Runs great, fully gone through, and ready for the trail.

Upgrades:
• 6” Rusty’s lift (front springs, upper/lower links, panhard drop)
• 1-ton panhard bar + 1-ton steering w/ drilled knuckles
• Dana 35 front + Dana 44 rear w/ skid plate, both re-geared to 4.88
• ARB locker + onboard air compressor
• Smittybilt 12k winch, heavy-duty front bumper
• Full bead-lock wheels

Known Issues:
• Bead-locks not technically street-legal
• Driver front tire slow leak + sidewall repair
• Exhaust manifold leak

Recovering from a breakdown on the trail is possible with a little knowledge, creativity, and the right tools!
Recently, I broke a panhard (track) bar while out on a solo trip. Thankfully, I wasn’t far from help, but my rig was stuck in the middle of the trail, and I didn’t want to leave it behind. With the broken panhard bar, the axle couldn’t stay centered in the chassis, making steering nearly impossible.
To fix it, I used heavy-duty ratchet straps to temporarily replace the panhard bar. Here's two methods how:
• Crisscross the straps—attach one from the passenger knuckle to the driver-side frame, and the other from the driver knuckle to the passenger-side frame. Don’t overtighten; cheap straps will break (I snapped a few from Harbor Freight). This will work with quality straps.
• I eventually used an adjustable tow strap, looping and lacing it tightly from one knuckle to the opposite frame rail, then repeating for the other side.
This setup worked surprisingly well. Steering was extremely loose—like driving with the worst worn-out steering—but I managed to creep out to the trailhead safely, where I could retrieve the rig with a trailer.
Important: Never drive this way on public roads. You can only maintain limited control at very slow speeds (5–10 mph max).
