Oh my gosh! Where has the time gone??? And where are we now? We've been busy fixing/repairing RVs AND taking time to enjoy this beautiful country of ours!

Remember, spring is here, and that means summer is right around the corner. Make sure your a/c units are cleaned and ready to do the work they need to keep you nice and cool! Wow!!! Where did the time go?? We've been so busy we haven't posted in a long time. Awnings have been fixed and leaks have been stopped, just to name a few repair calls. You name the problem, we've fixed it! And, with the temperatures making their way UP....it's that time of the year again when the a/c's will really be put to the test. Don't wait until yours calls it quits. Remember maintenance is essential. But, if it does happen, give us a call/text/email.

We received a call from a customer who noticed a water leak on the floor next to the coffee bar of their 5th wheel. No leaks anywhere else. Diagnosis; bad anode rod that caused corrosion of the water heater tank. Actually really bad. Six years without replacing it. What is an anode rod? Anode rods defend water heaters against corrosion, rust, and other harmful elements that can damage and crack the water heater tank lining. This water heater tank rotted and leaked water into the RV. Unfortunately, I had to replace the entire water heater. If your RV has an anode rod (some do not) don't forget to check its condition annually. A new rod isn't expensive (and it's easy to replace), but a new tank can be expensive!

Okay. Let’s talk about the RV toilet. Does your toilet basin water fill up and stay filled? If not, you probably have a seal leak. And, no, the seat and the lid shouldn’t wiggle either!

I recently had a return customer whose toilet bowl seal wasn’t holding water in the basin, and the toilet seat/lid was loose.
First, I cleaned the seal & seal seat of calcium buildup (and there was a LOT of buildup). I removed and lubricated the seal and seal seat. I reinstalled the seal. But the seal continued leaking. It needed a new seal.
Using the Dometic 385311658 OEM Flush Ball Seal Kit, I replaced the seal (and completed all the steps involved with that).
I also tightened the loose toilet seat mounting bolts.
I verified the toilet basin was now properly holding water and that the toilet seat/ lid was working properly.

Need a Tonneau cover installed? Yes, I do that too! This customer doesn't have an RV. They just needed a cover installed on their 2022 Toyota Tacoma short bed truck. We agreed that the BAKFlip MX4 hard cover would be a good choice. It was!

Ah, the perils of traveling! While I was up on my RV roof recently I noticed that a vent cover had broken off. The vent cover is in two parts, the cover and the base. The cover was missing and the base had a hole in the PVC where the post for securing the cover should have been. The post had broken out of the base. Most likely the result of hitting a tree limb in one of the campgrounds we’ve been at recently. It happens. Always make sure to check the condition of all the things on your roof as frequently as possible! See pics of the fix.
