In the past there have been a lot of myths about hardened undercoating. Rubberized or bed liner etc. This is from what I've seen and heard a bit mis- leading. I've talked to a few gentleman who tried brush on bed liner and said the rust just bleeds through it. Sure it looks good at first. But in a short amount of time it chips and wears down. The other problem, with what is basically a diy solution is even with proper prep the treatment adheres to the surface rust, and traps moisture, allowing your frame to continue to corrode. It also doesn't protect those hard to reach places where rust will continue to grow.
Oil, on the other hand gets below the rust to the base metal, it stays fluid and will creep into tight areas and can be applied to the inside of a frame. It won't chip or flake off and creates a barrier against further corrosion. This was one of the biggest advantages we found and why we chose to share this product with everyone. -Johnny
