I know you've done it, but just remember turning the volume up on the radio does not, in fact, make the mysterious noise you've been trying to ignore, go away. This 3.6L 2017 Dodge Caravan came in with an intermittent noise. It took some internal inspection using a bore scope, to find that the flex plate had a crack. This flex plate was close to singing "Fly Me To Moon" but luckily it was fixed before it reached that point.

Things you don't want to see when dropping the oil pan. 🫣

We found the rag while dropping the oil pan to fix a timing cover leak. The customer had previously resealed the oil pan and had forgotten the shop towel upon reinstallation.

Ever wondered what the inside of a fuse box looks like? Well we got you covered. Here is the interworkings of an '03 Chevy Silverado fuse box. The truck came in with intermittent no crank and no start. After diagnosis, the problem was discovered within the fuse box. As you can see after taking the box apart, the metal terminals for the crank fuse were corroded, which caused a poor connections. Once the box was replaced, the trucks intermittent issues were resolved.

Sometimes you have a bad day. Then there is a really bad day. This '96 Ford had a rough go with some barbed wire. The barbed wire snagged the break lines and then the wiring harness, then master cylinder and clutch cylinder and also some bailing twine.... Let's talk about spark plugs!

The small but mighty spark plug is essential in the operation of a combustion engine.

It's job is simple, it ignites the air and fuel mixture in an engine cylinder to create combustion which in short makes the vehicle move.

💥 They're primarily made of a ceramic insulator, nickel-alloy coated copper core electrode and a steel shell

💥 The lifespan usually ranges from 30,000 to + 100,00 miles depending on type of materials used

💥 Cost for one spark plug can range from $3.00 all the way to $20.00

💥 The number of spark plugs necessary for a vehicle can vary depending on the motor type. But most range from 4 to 16 plugs

💥 Bad sparks plug can cause rough idling, poor acceleration or cylinder misfires

💥 The tip material of the electrodes can be made of copper, iridium or platinum which alters the longevity and efficiency of the spark plug

Check with your mechanic today on the recommend time to replace your spark plugs!

New Year and Welker Automotive is back to regular hour action! Thank you to all our customers for understanding our time off. We look forward to resuming full scheduling!

Though we've been quiet on socials the shop has still been busy! We had a Ford 6.2 F350 come in with an exhaust leak. Upon inspection it was clear where the issues lied... One manifold was broke in two, while the other was cracked. Two new manifolds with new hardware got them back on the road!

Welker Automotive would like to inform our customers and current clients that scheduling will be light through the next few weeks and through the holiday weeks as we are preparing for shop upgrades and catching up on work. We are still available for calls and texts.
