Not sure if this is a throwback, throw-forward, or a bit of both. Check out this 1973 Bronco restomod... with a twist. Usually you'll see this type of setup running a 5.0 Coyote V8, but this $411000 (yikes!) build is running a 3.5 liter twin turbo EcoBoost under the hood!

This 3.5L V6 EcoBoost powered 1973 Ford Bronco is heading to auction as a comprehensive build that took several years and a $400k investment to bring to life.

Had to catch up on how Ford's racing teams did over the weekend, and the news is pretty good!
🏁 Winner, Ryan Preece, #60 Mustang Dark Horse, NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. First career Cup win!
🏁 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Chase field set with FIVE Ford teams: #12 Ryan Blaney (2nd), #22 Joey Logano (9th), #17 Chris Buescher (10th), #2 Austin Cindric (15th), #60 Ryan Preece (16th)
🏁 Winner in both Race 1 and Race 2, Frankie Muniz and Tyler Stone, #30 Mustang GT4, Pirelli GT4 America Series Am Class at Road America, now 2nd in series points. First career win!
🏁 Set last weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will have FOUR Ford teams competing for the Championship: #34 Layne Riggs (1st in points, also winner of the last NCTS race), #38 Chandler Smith (3rd), #88 Ty Majeski (6th), #99 Ben Rhodes (9th)
🏁 One more very notable mention, Josh Berry took the #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse to 9th at Daytona. That marks a record-tying FIFTH consecutive top-10 finish for Berry. The last time the Wood Brothers team had 5 top-10's in a row? 1994 with Morgan Shepherd.

For today, we're going back to 1991. A young up and coming driver running sprint cars and midget cars, with aspirations to Indy cars, stepped into a stock car at the Buck Baker Racing School and was hooked. Lee Morse, head of Ford's racing division, noticed the young driver and connected him with an open seat at Bill Davis' Busch Grand National (now O'Reilly) series in the #1 Ford Thunderbird. He failed to qualify at Daytona, but rallied to win Rookie of the Year, and carried that momentum into 1992, partnering with now-legendary crew chief Ray Evernham, won three races and finished fourth in points. A week after the final BGN season race, he made his debut in the Cup series #24 Chevy with Rick Hendrick that would see him to 93 wins, 4 championships, and eventual equity partner ownership with Hendrick Motorsports. But it all really started in a Ford Thunderbird.

Last Saturday we'd posted a screen shot of a Bronco launching at the Texas Off Roadeo course. Here's an onboard video of the last run of the day. I tried to hold my phone level on the dash... pretty sure trail guide Nadi was doing his level best to break the course speed record. Sound up!
A couple notable points in the video
0:29 had to slow for a ditch drop
0:38 transition to a different part of the trail running up and down a hill
1:03 BIG drop, we bottomed out the suspension here
1:10 pulling onto a dirt road that was open to the public, I played rally co-driver spotting for traffic to the right. "CLEAR RIGHT!"
1:20 high speed bank turns building speed for...
1:24 rocketing across the "whoops" series, we were DEFINITELY off the ground on these!
1:31 more high speed bank turns, I think Nadi had it floored through here, and our brakes were hot enough they weren't great after so many runs
1:37 high speed washboard to shake the brain loose
1:46 one more big dip, we didn't slow down much for this one
2:00 back to the start line!

We've got a bunch of new rides in the pipeline... we're as anxious to see them as everyone! This week, though, we only had one get unloaded here. But hey, if you're only going to have one vehicle for Fresh Inventory Friday, it should be SUPER, right?

If you keep an eye on Ford Racing, you might know there's a new hypercar in town. Designed to compete and WIN in FIA World Endurance Challenge, best known for the 24 Hours of LeMans race. Powered by a 5.4 liter Coyote based Ford engine, the program has to be race ready by March for the season opener in Qatar.
You might also notice the "Go Like Hell" slogan in several spots. The phrase was famously conveyed by Carroll Shelby to Ken Miles during the 1966 24 Hours of LeMans. It was the signal to exceed the designed limits and beat Ferrari.
