Things have been staying busy so far this year over at JCL Performance LLC. We do everything from preventive maintenance to internal engine repair. Recently we had a customer come in with a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe that was running rough and had codes for misfires an ended up being a lifter. Lifter issues are common on the LS/LT motors with cylinder deactivation. When these lifters fail, they can damage the camshaft lobes and cause catastrophic engine failure. Thankfully with this vehicle the issue was discovered before it could damage major components. The customer opted to do a DOD delete to remove the system's faulty components and prevent the same issue from occurring in the future. This process requires changing the camshaft, removing the heads, and replacing the old lifters. It also requires programming to update the computer afterwards. We use HP Tuners for these programming needs, and all parts used for the repair were GM genuine. Many companies sell kits for this swap, but we found that the kits are often missing components and do not always include quality parts. Below are some pictures of the process and the parts needed.

Customer came in with a coolant leak on their pickup truck. To pinpoint the leak, we pressure tested the system and found it leaking by the water pump. We replaced the water pump, vacuum filled the coolant system, and replaced the old serpentine belt that had been leaked on. There are no more leaks or squeaks at this time. Below are are some before and after pictures of the repair.

Customer came in with a 95 Mustang for a fuel leak and noise while driving. During diagnosis we found that the bushings in the rear control arms were worn out, and as a result allowed the rear axle to move and come into contact with the fuel lines, causing the leak. We replaced all the fuel lines, and upgraded the control arms and bushings in the rear axle. There are no more leaks or noises and the car handles a lot better. Below are some pictures of the damaged lines we found, as well as before and after pictures of the control arms.

We offer a full range of services to keep your AC system blowing cold, and with the help of the shop's new 1234yf machine we can also service newer vehicles. Many manufacturers are starting to transition from the older 134a refrigerant to the newer 1234yf, and we want to be able to meet our customer's needs. At JCL Performance LLC we do all kinds of repairs. From oil changes to timing chains, we do it all. This includes everything from maintenance to major repairs, or even just diagnosing a check engine light or strange noise. We want your vehicle to be safe and run correctly.

Recently we helped a customer get ready for inspection. We found that the vehicle was running rough and had a check engine light on. It needed catalytic converters, the original ones were so clogged up that they weren't allowing exhaust to pass through. We got them replaced and back on the road. Below are some pictures of the repair.

An important reminder for anyone who needs it: get your brakes checked. That squealing and grinding you've been hearing isn't normal, and we'd be happy to take a look at it.

The vehicle below came in with braking concerns, and upon inspection we found that the back half of the vented rotor was almost completely worn off from metal to metal contact. We installed new brake pads and rotors, a definite improvement over the original. Below are pictures of the initial concern and the repair.

Customer came in with a 2011 Buick Lacrosse for various leak concerns. Upon inspection, we found leaking transmissions lines, and that it was leaking oil around the front timing cover. New lines and gaskets on everything were installed, and there are no more leaks. New spark plugs were also installed due to mileage, the original plugs were at their regular service interval per the manufacturer.

Below are pictures of the repair process, and if you've ever wondered what the inside of your motor might look like, take a look behind the timing cover, how clean the cover itself should be before install, and what it looks like under the intake. There are also pictures of the new transmission lines.

Customer came in with a 2011 Chevy Silverado for concerns about an oil leak, and upon inspection we found several. Due to the mileage on the truck, it had started to leak around both the oil pan and the rear main seal. New gaskets were installed, including a GM genuine rear main seal plate and oil pan gasket and everything cleaned and refitted. This was a very in depth job, and we are happy to say there are no more leaks. Below are some pictures of before and after, as well as some pictures of the components replaced.
