📱 Those big Android tablet-style radios look incredible… but there’s another side to the story.

We’ll be the first to admit it—they look amazing. Huge screens, modern interfaces, tons of features, and they can completely change the appearance of a dashboard.

Unfortunately, looking good and working reliably are two very different things.

This Jeep came into the shop with an inexpensive Android tablet-style radio that simply became too frustrating to live with. When the glitches, connection issues, slow operation, and inconsistent performance start piling up, that giant screen isn’t nearly as impressive anymore.

The owner finally had enough, so we’re removing the aftermarket tablet and returning the Jeep back to the factory radio.

We see this more often than you might think. That’s why we’re selective about the products we sell and install. We want equipment that integrates properly with the vehicle and, most importantly, works every time you turn the key.

Sometimes the best-looking option isn’t the best-performing option.

This machine gets used every single day to precision-cut our window film. Paired with our professional pattern-cutting software, the Graphtec allows us to pull up vehicle-specific patterns and accurately cut the film before it ever touches the glass.

That means consistent patterns, clean edges, less unnecessary cutting on the vehicle, and a more efficient installation process.

🔊 Proper Amplifier Tuning Takes More Than Just Your Ears

At Speed of Sound Technologies, we don’t guess when it comes to setting up an audio system. We measure, verify, and tune using professional test equipment.

🎛️ RTA (Real-Time Analyzer) — helps us measure frequency response and see exactly what’s happening throughout the audio spectrum.

📈 SMD DD-1 Plus — allows us to detect distortion and properly establish clean signal and amplifier gain levels.

〰️ Oscilloscope — lets us visually inspect the waveform, check for clipping, and verify that the signal stays clean.

Setting amplifier gains by ear can leave performance on the table—or push equipment beyond its clean operating range. The right tools allow us to get the most out of the system while keeping everything operating properly.

🔥 Proper Windshield Tinting Starts With Proper Preparation 🔥

This 2019 Infiniti QX30 is getting Pinnacle 50% ceramic film on the front windshield, but before the film ever touches the glass, there’s a lot of preparation that goes into doing the job correctly.

In the video, you can see the dash completely protected before we begin. Windshield installations require plenty of installation solution, so taking the time to properly cover and protect the interior is an important part of our process.

You’ll also see our peel board with the film pattern laid out and ready for installation. Keeping the film clean, organized, and controlled helps us minimize contamination and deliver the cleanest installation possible.

It’s the little details you may never see once the vehicle leaves that make the difference. 👌

On this 2021 Ram 1500, we mounted a Sony Mobile ES XM-1ES monoblock amplifier securely underneath the passenger seat.

Keeping the amplifier under the seat gives us a clean, factory-style installation while preserving valuable interior space. Just as important, everything is properly secured, wired, and positioned with future serviceability in mind.

The XM-1ES will be supplying the power for this Ram’s subwoofer upgrade—and there’s plenty of power on tap! 💪🔊

🔊 ADDING SOME SERIOUS LOW-END TO THIS 2021 RAM 1500! 🔊

This Ram is in the shop for a proper subwoofer upgrade, and we’re keeping this one simple, powerful, and musical.

We’re installing a prefabricated dual sealed 10-inch enclosure loaded with a pair of Sony Mobile ES XS-W104ES 10” subwoofers, powered by the Sony Mobile ES XM-1ES mono amplifier.

With the two 4-ohm subwoofers wired to a 2-ohm load, the XM-1ES delivers 1,000 watts RMS of clean power. 💪

The sealed enclosure is a great choice for this setup, giving us tight, controlled bass with plenty of impact while maintaining the sound quality the Mobile ES lineup is known for.

This 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat came into the shop for a full tint upgrade, and we installed LLumar FormulaOne Pinnacle 25% ceramic film on the side and rear glass.
