I haven't done much in the way of car shows lately at the mudpit, but some stuff has been moving.
Early in the spring I sold our 56 Canadian Pontiac after getting it running and driving after sitting for 40+ years. It went to a tri Chevy collector who really appreciates it for what it is. (A Pontiac body on a Chevy drivetrain)
I also sold our air conditioned pink and white 56 Pontiac after hauling it out to the peotone swap meet. It also went to a good home and I look forward to seeing it fixed up in the future.
Last year I bought 3 rusty hot rods from an estate in Chicago. This spring the owner called me about buying a little red roadster that he had kept but decided to part with. I bought it and brought it home. It sat in my garage for several months and I wound up selling it a month ago to a dedicated hot rod shop owner from Minneapolis who discovered the cars true history which I'll write about in another post. (It's an incredible story!!!!!!). Then after a year I finally managed to put some tires on my old 26 T coupe out in the back yard. Notice the one tire that I inflated that split open between my legs!!!! That could have been a tragedy if the tube had blown out along with the tire. Those spilt rims are a real pain to deal with! The good news is that it's sitting on inflated tires so it can be rolled around and moved again.
A few months ago I finally bought a real nice 26 Model T touring car from the widow of a great car collector. She was selling 51 classic cars!!! This Green T appears to have been expertly restored about 20 years ago and appears to be a museum quality piece which makes me wonder if I should even be driving it. It hadn't run in 4 years when I brought it home. I had to fix two tires, and replace the battery and wooden battery tray. Then I had to clean out the fuel tank and the carburator. I got it running after a week on the fourth of July, but it was overheating, so I removed and eliminated the Berg water pump as it was clogged up with solidified grease and antifreeze. Model T's didn't come from the factory with water pumps, so since it had a new (20 year old) Berg radiator, I eliminated the pump. I've driven it around the neighborhood and to a cruise up at Beggars Pizza, but it honestly doesn't run as well as my other old Fords. It's also got a Ruxtell rear end in it which adds a shifter and two more speeds, which i still have to get used to.
A few weeks back i drove up to Michigan to bring home a motor less 51 Chevy pickup that i found on marketplace. At first I figured that I'd drop a simple sbc in it, but now I'm thinking it would be best to transfer the body onto a Chevy S10 chassis that I've been sitting on. It came with some garbage 14" wheels so I needed stock 6 lug wheels. I wound up finding 3 15" and 3 16" wheels, so if anyone has any old 6 lug chevy wheels with the hub cap clips, I could use a few.
Last but not least, (but possibly the worst), I ran across a 55 Chevy Sedan Delivery on marketplace up in McHenry County that I ran up to and snagged. It's rough with new floor pan halves tacked in, and a pair of four door wagon quarters in the back for patch panels. I could work on this car or use it to rework my 56 more doorr wagon which has the entire cargo floor rusted out. The cargo floor in this 55 is fine. Either way, a few days ago I found a decent Tudor bench seat to put in it.
That's all for now. I'm about to start some vacation time, so I'm hoping to get a lot cleaned up and organized.
P.s. Little Ella has been a good girl enjoying being by my side.

Here's a memory from 7 years ago. Amelia DogHart used to ride on my Harley.... one day she jumped up on the seat, so i started talking her for short slow rides to the dog sitter in the morning. She loves the Hell out of those rides. So much so that I traded her fire dept Collar for a Lavender Harley collar. She certainly deserved it and wore it proudly. In fact after she started riding i noticed that she would stop and admire other hogs passing by. So she was certainly in tune with the brotherhood!!! And of course she loved visiting Harley Davidson dealers where she was always loved and welcomed. Amelia DogHart was an incredible girl!!! As I often told her, she was much better than a squirrel! Here are two springtime events that I neglected to post about.
First off, back in mid April, we lost Amelia DogHart, who went me everywhere for the past 11 years. Being dogless I figured I'd start Harley riding again. That didn't last long though while working in the ghetto where a young girl brought a lethargic puppy into work wanting to know how she could get rid of it since she didn't want it...
I said "give me that dog," and she's been with me since. I wound up naming her Ella, after dog loving Cpd police officer Ella French (R.I.P.). I sent out her DNA for testing just a few days ago so we'll see what exactly Ella might be. She's a little sweetheart who wants to make friends with most Everyone she sees.
Our first adventure was Vintage torque fest in Dubuque, Iowa which as usual didn't disappoint. We arrived Friday night where i jumped into a pre prepped race car that i purchased for the demolition derby. I painted it up and slapped some of our new decals on it, which I'm not gonna lie. Not having Amelia there with me brought a tear to my eye.
It was great to Scratch demo derby racing off of my bucket list! It was scary and thrilling all at the same time, and when all was said and done, I finished in third place!!! After that I unloaded our Model T, and started touring the grounds in our touring car with the new puppygirl Ella by my side. We showed off the car, and i did some minibike racing and offroading on our Mini bike death machine. Of course we participated in the Minibike parade through the fairgrounds. Inbetween a lot of great people, music and tons of cool cars, Vintage Torque Fest did not disappoint!!!
A week or two later we made the trek out to Belvidere, Illinois for a show and swap meet called "Little Hershey" put on by the Rockford area model T club. We had a wonderful day driving around the swap meet collecting parts we may or may not have ever needed. Either way it was a ton of fun. Shortly after that I acquired another model T chassis that I parted out.
So In summary, the spring had us attending a few great events, and we have a new troublemaker on the payroll, named Little Ella Underfoot. Also, we now have some great logo/ decals in 3"&5" sizes thanks to the south side film club that Amelia loaned our model A to for that gangster movie shoot last fall.
