GTB Outdoors LLC Bass fishing coach and guide. Do you want to learn how to bass fish or learn advanced techniques? GTB Outdoors is your place.

We specialize in teaching new anglers how to approach bass fishing. If you want to learn a new lake, new technique etc. We are a Veteran owned and operated business. We offer half and full day trips, $350 full / $250 half. Our home lake is Joe Pool, and we offer services on most DFW area lakes. Equipment can be provided upon request, we use all high quality equipment. Skeeter FX20 powered by a 250 Yamaha SHO, Lowrance electronics, TFO rods, Lews reels, Vicious fishing line. Give us a call or send an email and lets get you out on the water. We also offer a new boat owner instruction, this includes launching and trailering boat, navigating, electronics, and all safety tips.

Friday we had Chad and his son Tyler from Utah fishing with us. Chad a professor at BYU was in town with his son to check out the BYU vs. TCU game, and BYU came out with the win. Fishing wasn’t to bad but fun and enjoyment was had. Tyler a good angler has fished a lot of different for a bunch of different species so he wanted to add Texas largemouth to the list. We had to delay our start to let the rain ease up. Bite was tough with the conditions doing a 180 but we managed. Sounds like it was a great trip for Tyler with Texas BBQ, fishing, and football. Thanks again for giving GTB Outdoors the call!

Tuesday was a very interesting trip, we had James and Ben here from the UK. The were here representing their country in the IPRF World Championship, a precision r***e competition that the worlds top shooters compete. Ben ended up with a bronze medal in his bracket. Being avid fishermen they wanted to do some Texas bass fishing. We hit the lake and I have to say the bite was tough but we kept our heads down and ran into a stretch where they were biting. We put some in the boat and checked that off the bucket list for the guys. It was interesting talking with James who is British military about our shared interest in military and weapons, Ben works in the weapons industry which was interesting especially being in a different country. The guys were great and we wish them safe travels back home. Thanks again for giving GTB Outdoors the opportunity!

Today we had Jake and his son Harrison from California. In town for a baseball tournament, they decided to go fishing for a day while here. We hit lake Alvarado where the bites been pretty good. We started the day off a little wet, more than we anticipated. But the Texas dryer (sun) broke out and we were dry in no time. It started slow after the rain and then we found a good stretch that had fish long it. Harrison put in some work and landed some nice fish. Thanks again for giving GTB Outdoors a call, and safe travels back to California.

Yesterday was a fun trip with Dawn and her husband Navy veteran Andy from Pennsylvania and I must say Cowboys fans! In Texas for a conference, might as well make it a vacation and go fishing! We hit up lake Alvarado as the bite been decent in this Texas heat. We fished around and then found them, we caught several good keepers in one little stretch. The wind was very light to nothing at all which slowed the bite and heated up the temps. It turned out to be a great trip for Dawn and Andy and I enjoyed fishing with them, a lot of good conversation also. While in town they also checked out a Cowboys game. Thanks again Dawn and Andy, hit me up if you’re ever back this way. 🎣

Friday we had locals Johnny and son Johnathan out on a birthday trip, Johnathan turned 12! Johnny a Veteran like me were at the same place and probably crossed paths years ago. We hit Lake Alvarado and it turned out to be a great half day before the heat hit. Johnathan caught some and learned a few new tricks. Nothing like spending your birthday on the water with your dad, it’s what it’s all about! Thanks again Johnny for giving us the call and Happy Birthday Johnathan.

The owners of GTB Outdoors snuck away last week for a little rest and relaxation, we also snuck in a fishing trip. Someone caught their first Blue Marlin, I must say she didn’t quit or get any help. Within the first hour of fishing this fish bit, 27 mins later she had the fish in the boat! Thanks goes out to Gildardo and Jerry aboard the Blue Tail with Cabo Sport fishing crew! 🎣

This past Friday we had Brad, his wife Jordan and son Peyton from Little Rock. They were in town celebrating Peyton’s birthday and fishing was on the list of things to do. We got out on Lake Alvarado before the heat kicked in, no wind made the bite tough but once a breeze blew in the bite was on. We landed several nice fish before the heat. Thanks goes out to Jordan for the nice pics. After fishing we all went to the Cowboys vs. Saints game. You gotta love a family that likes to fish together and also Cowboys fans! Friday we had Roman, his wife Irina and son Peter visiting from Moscow. We had a good day out on the water and everyone caught their first US Texas bass. We love trips like this where the whole family goes, every now and then we had to do a little ducking from Peter’s cast. We can now check off Russia from our international visitors. Yesterday we took out Airforce veteran Caleb and his two boys Everett and Odell all the way from Maryland. It’s always a great day when you have fellow veterans along with father/son trips. This trip was full of excitement from a little battery technical difficulty to battle of the brothers, to a little auto inflate life jacket excitement. It didn’t take the boys long to figure out how to catch them and have some good fun. Check out the pics and you’ll see it was a great day. Thanks again Caleb for giving GTB Outdoors the chance. 🎣

Saturday we took repeat client Jon and his son James, always good to have a father/son trip. From the beginning I sensed a little competition and trash talking. Fishing was good with several fish caught and memories made. On this trip it seems Jon had the hot hand, a lot was learned for future fishing outings and that is always a plus. This trip was a last summer getaway before school starts. Thanks again Jon for giving us the call, we’ll see you guys again hopefully during spring break!
