As we approach the New Year, we're counting down the Top 5 NSX Models of All Time. We're finally at Number 1, the original 1991 NSX.

Inspired by the F-16 fighter jet, the 1991 NSX -- which stands for "New Sportscar eXperimental" -- was the first production car to feature an all-aluminium semi-monocoque body. Legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, Indy 500 champion Bobby Rahal, and Japanese F1 driver Satoru Nakajima all contributed to the development of the NSX as a track-tested supercar. It was a true game-changer for the industry.

As we approach the New Year, we're counting down the Top 5 NSX Models of All Time. Next up is Number 2, the 2005 NSX-R GT.

In order to give the NSX every chance of success for the 2005 Super GT racing season, Honda produced a tricked out special version -- the NSX-R GT. As the Super GT rule required at least five production cars for any race car version to compete, the production of NSX-R GT was limited to the minimum number, and only one car was actually sold, at a cost of $470,000.

As we approach the New Year, we're counting down the Top 5 NSX Models of All Time. We're up to Number 3, the 2009 Mugen NSX RR Concept.

At the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS), Mugen surprised everyone by unveiling this extreme NSX. Called the RR, it featured carbon fiber and aluminum panels that both widened and lengthened the body. But the most notable modification was the shark-fin scoop on the roof, along with a fixed rear wing, front splitter, and rear diffuser.

As we approach the New Year, we're counting down the Top 5 NSX Models of All Time. Next up is number 4, the 2002 NSX NA2 Type S.

For the 2002 NSX, Acura did away with the flip-up style headlamps in favor of a better angled and brighter set of lights. The targa became the standard roof, too. So not only did it reach a top speed of 175 mph with a 0 to 60 time around 5.5 seconds, but the NSX also sported a sleeker, more refined look.

Hand-built by master technicians at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) with a limited production of 350 units globally, the new NSX embodies the pinnacle of dynamic driving worthy of the Type S badge.
