Your new transmission is an investment. The first 1,000 miles matter.

Every transmission we build requires a 1,000-mile break-in service, and there is an important reason why.

During the first 1,000 miles, the new clutches are breaking in, the transmission is completing its adaptive learning process, and a normal amount of clutch material can be shed into the fluid. At the break-in service, we want to make sure what we're seeing is normal and that your transmission is operating exactly as it should.

We drop the pan, replace the fluid and filters, inspect the fluid and pan for excessive clutch material or metal, check for leaks, scan the transmission for faults, review its adaptive values and operation, verify line pressure, and road test the truck.

This gives us an opportunity to catch a developing problem early instead of waiting until it becomes a major failure.

When you purchase one of our transmissions, you've made a significant investment in your truck and we've made an investment in that build too. We don't want to simply build your transmission, hand you the keys, and never look at it again.

We want to see it back at 1,000 miles. We want to inspect our work after it's had time on the road. And we need you to do your part by properly maintaining it so that if a problem ever does arise, we know it wasn't caused by something that could have been prevented through maintenance.

TECH TIP: Don’t Ignore a Roaring Noise From Your Drivetrain

If your truck develops a roaring or growling noise while accelerating that goes away or gets quieter when you let off the throttle, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with bearing or differential damage.
