Every time I see a GM truck equipped with this engine I cringe. It's nothing more than a big fat middle finger from GM to vehicle owners. We're living in an alternate universe when the most reliable engine in a GM 1500 series truck is a four cylinder. Ford and GM both seem to be encouraging truck buyers to look elsewhere.

It’s been a minute, but the engine for the money pit Jeep is finally back in my shop. It now has forged rods and pistons, a ported Edelbrock aluminum head, Harland Sharp roller rockers, and a Newcomer racing roller cam. A very similar combo built by Newcomer made 315+ hp, and over 350 lb/ft torque. This should move this project very well. Yes, once again, I know an LS or Hemi would make more power for less money. I don’t care. TJ’s should have straight sixes. I have other junk to go fast in. Shout out to Mahler Engine Service for the machine work, porting, and assembly and to Keith at Newcomer racing for putting up with my consistent Monday morning emails.
