The Lawrence/ Andover exchange club had a great gathering to honor long time Lawrence boys/girls club director Markus Fisher with the Book of Golden Deeds award. Basically person of the year. Fantastic choice. He came in when the club was on shaky financial footing and slowly solidified things in the process of building a state of the art facility. There were some local business giants in attendance also like Tom Barenboim, Al Torrisi, Larry Yameen, and the second and third cog in the clubs wheel bill robertson and Steve Kelley. Excellent job by the exchange club for recognizing the entire club and its outstanding leader.

Happy birthday to a dear friend of ours. Our former director of community involvement Joe Carroll. Joe was with us in snow storm’s hurricanes early mornings late at night. Always here. 87 years old today buddy. Thanks for all the memories and legendary stories.

Central Catholic lost a great leader yesterday when bro Rene Roy passed away. Rene wore soo many hats at CCHS, from campus ministry to president of the school. He was great at board meetings with Joe faro and Gino Baroni, In the classroom with my daughter Ella or at a cross country meet at the reservoir rooting on my son Neil and Ben Hayes. Rene was a true lawrencian and even bigger raider fan. His brother Pete was on the first basketball team to play in the memorial gymnasium and Rene was a fan of every team that wore the raiders uniform. His life revolved around 300 Hampshire Street. Hopefully now he will continue to watch over us from a peaceful place for him. Rest in peace Brother Rene. You were a great friend. I will miss the conversations.

The eagle tribune announced a contest to see who had the best beach pizza over the weekend. You can vote by going on https://www.eagletribune.com/day-at-the-beach-poll/ #/questions . The Sheehan’s family all voted this weekend and it was a unanimous Tripoli victory. Ella is a former employee and has the gear to back it up. And two pictures from the week show a rainbow at the Tripoli sign and truckers lined up to get the best!! Make sure you vote and leave some room for a canoli.

A lot of cool machines are out on the road this week. We moved a Bobcat and are servicing a 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle. The ‘57 Chevy with the flames is my personal favorite and remind me of Guy Fieri. One vehicle doesn’t fit. Side walk plow getting ready for next winter. Any guesses on what kind of car the red wagon is? We know there is a viper v10 under the hood.

Good morning. I think this is a good sign the summer weather is on the way. Former Lt. Colonel Ron Guilmette’s antique MSP cruiser is out ready for all the car shows and parades for the 250th anniversary of our nation. Thanks for sharing it with us Ronnie and I hope we have good weather going forward.

Congratulations to the Cyr family who swept up at the Championship meet on Monday for greater Lawrence tech. Haleigh topped the field in high jump, long jump and a team relay. Her coach once again gave great advice when needed. Congratulations to Charlie Saindon’s son David for his accomplishments in shot put and discus. Great job guys!!!

Methuen lost a great firefighter fighter today after a long battle with cancer. Jimmy was a Lt and union president for MFD. Jimmy Mac was always helping toy drives for the Arlington district, Christmas parties for firefighters kids. Dinners for the elderly at the senior center and he could always get a ton of guys to follow his lead because he was a genuine guy. I think that goodness came from his south Lawrence upbringing and his long list of devoted friends. This was evident by the crowds of people that attended parties for him. Rest easy Jimmy Mac you did your time and service to the community hopefully your successors carry on in the same great way you did.
