The city of Lawrence lost a great former LFD lieutenant this week. He loved the city he served and all his customers up on tower hill at Lannon’s service station. Jack was known and loved for always telling like it is. You always knew where he stood on an issue. Local or national. He took pride in his three boys. Never letting them know which one was his favorite. His grandkids and most recently his great grandchildren were the light of his world. He was a great friend of ours and a super loss to our family. Rest well my friend and enjoy being reunited with your wife in heaven

Joe Carroll would be very proud of two of his grandsons training to be local police officers. Joseph Carroll just became a Lawrence police officer on Friday and Michael Lefebre is in the academy for Andover police. Both are great young prospects for their respective departments. Joe would be proud and Bobby Lefebre would be happy his son took after him. Congratulations to both guys.

We lost a great friend this week in Dave Shaheen. We spent many years together on the CCHS athletic board. He was a class act weather we were interviewing coaching candidates or selecting people for the hall of fame. He had a great group of guys from CC that he remained close with. Especially Larry Rossi. But nothing mentioned more to him than his wife Rosemary and his boy Matt and daughter Allison. Whether it was one of Matt’s games or Allison singing the national anthem before all sorts of events he was so proud of his family. There are so many great members of the Shaheen’s extended family and Dave represented very well. Rest in piece my good friend.

We hope everyone had a good weekend. We were helping support Lawrence hometown heroes road race yesterday in the rain. It was still a fantastic success. Dean Murphy and his wife Kim do a great job to continue honoring Charlie Saindon and Ian Taylor. There was a great showing from the Lawrence Police. Two captains and one Sargent took home medals as top age group finishers: Jay Cerullo, Hal Rogers and Joe Beaulieu. Sheehan‘s was also represented well with Mike Cyr jr. and Neil Sheehan finishing in the top 10. Thanks to all the support from Billerica Police also. Great tribute to 2 super individuals.

The Lawrence/ Andover exchange club had a great gathering to honor long time Lawrence boys/girls club director Markus Fisher with the Book of Golden Deeds award. Basically person of the year. Fantastic choice. He came in when the club was on shaky financial footing and slowly solidified things in the process of building a state of the art facility. There were some local business giants in attendance also like Tom Barenboim, Al Torrisi, Larry Yameen, and the second and third cog in the clubs wheel bill robertson and Steve Kelley. Excellent job by the exchange club for recognizing the entire club and its outstanding leader.

Happy birthday to a dear friend of ours. Our former director of community involvement Joe Carroll. Joe was with us in snow storm’s hurricanes early mornings late at night. Always here. 87 years old today buddy. Thanks for all the memories and legendary stories.

Central Catholic lost a great leader yesterday when bro Rene Roy passed away. Rene wore soo many hats at CCHS, from campus ministry to president of the school. He was great at board meetings with Joe faro and Gino Baroni, In the classroom with my daughter Ella or at a cross country meet at the reservoir rooting on my son Neil and Ben Hayes. Rene was a true lawrencian and even bigger raider fan. His brother Pete was on the first basketball team to play in the memorial gymnasium and Rene was a fan of every team that wore the raiders uniform. His life revolved around 300 Hampshire Street. Hopefully now he will continue to watch over us from a peaceful place for him. Rest in peace Brother Rene. You were a great friend. I will miss the conversations.

The Sheehan’s family all voted this weekend and it was a unanimous Tripoli victory. Ella is a former employee and has the gear to back it up. And two pictures from the week show a rainbow at the Tripoli sign and truckers lined up to get the best!! Make sure you vote and leave some room for a canoli.
