Poizd T3V3 is coming along nicely.
Designed and printed some more parts.

Skid, wings, rear differential slider, and a trans top plate all out of PA12-CF.

New front body mount out of PETG with brass inserts.

Weight hangers for the Meus Capra Axles.
99g of Tungsten slugs on each side.
These fit under a 2.2” Carbon vented beadlock from Amazon or other stores.
The housings are 3D printed in PPA-CF. The housings are lightweight, very stiff, and strong.
These attach in the lower 2 portal cover holes.

From design concept(last post) to reality.
This is what I do.

Whether reverse engineering, new solutions, or manufacturing drawings, I can handle it all.

Reverse engineered the T3V3 skid and made some sliders/wings similar to the originals, but are wider. They are printing now for test fit tomorrow.

Also the portal trans and Yellow Jacket motor can be seen in CAD.

I’ve been quiet, but very busy. Working on 3D Printed tire inserts and another chassis design.

Getting closer with both. Will post pictures of the progress soon.

Also, getting closer to building a small testing course at my house so development will happen faster.

Work has not stopped on the DKX and some other parts.

Revised skid will go on and be ready for testing tomorrow. I took more material out of the bottom to aid in breakover angles. I also removed material for driveshaft clearance in the model so I don’t have to clean range by hand. I made some other small tweaks to it as well.

I also prototyped a set of tire inserts that look simple from the outside, but inside is more complex. Trying to achieve a more natural feeling 3D printed insert with certain attributes to support the tire differently in different area, not only radially, but axially.

Testing tomorrow if all goes well.

Had the DKX Proto R2 out on the rocks and concrete on Friday.

Truck worked so good. Tons of forward drive. Great control and articulation. Skid did its job perfectly. Tons of clearance and the front portion kept the truck moving over the sharp stuff. No breakage, no material cracking, no gouges. I’m really pleased. My dad and brother drove the truck and were also very impressed. The Meus Cheat Code axles help tremendously. The increased caster and narrower track widths are the ticket.

We compared it directly to another chassis and the DKX walked around and over it on nearly every line. Tires, inserts, and track widths are very different which didn’t help the other truck.

I’m terrible at driving and recording video… needed a tripod. Phone was mounted to my radio. Here’s one small line.

Oh, this wheel/tire combo wasn’t setup optimally. Tires were not vented, had the included Reefs foam. So air pressure plus foam, which I actually really liked, but there was too much pressure making the tire spring rate a bit too high.

Working on another solution for that.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the maiden crawl. I’ll post pics of the trucks condition after its first crawl.

Already have an R2.1 skid to go on that is even more optimized for better clearance and overhangs.

First testing last night in the basement “lab” was promising. Getting the DKX outside after work.
